New image from Empire mag has Grogu captured and held by an Imperial Warlord who looks like been shopping in San Angeles from Demolition Man.

It's a family movie, you can't have the villain be that evil.

Story time. We've got 5 kids, all young, and their bedrooms are upstairs. We used to whistle for meal time to rally them all down to the kitchen. We asked our daughter to get them one morning, and instead of going up, she tried to whistle. But she was 4 and instead of whistling, she gave a nice "hoooo hoooooo!" shout.

Over time, this has evolved into the standard meal call, even from my wife and I, but recently the kids have all started "hoo hooing" repeatedly in response. I could swear it sounds straight out of ROTJ with a bunch of Ewoks hoo-hooing during the Battle of Endor. It's a nice way to start the weekend. Definitely puts a smile on my face.

Your boy just out-nerded everyone in the Star Wars Advanced trivia onboard the Disney Magic cruise ship. Answered a whopping 7 correct out of 20. I'm going to post the sheet, I tried to write down the questions. I'm certain half of you would have done better. In particular I knew I was wrong on #4, and was kicking myself for not knowing some other names. It was heavy on sequel trivia.
(Hoping the pics will post from sea)

New Maul trailer.

Mandalorians involved, 2 inquisitors, although I think both of them are eventually killed by Ahsoka

while Zam is technically a clawdite, they should have given you that one, Anakin literally says 'I think she's a changeling' in the movie.

The fact that they have to keep retreading Darth Sidious's first apprentice as a character should tell you all that is wrong with the Star Wars production team.

When I saw a documentary on the making of Star Wars, I had to try out tapping those cables with a hammer. As luck had it, we had some cables like that in our back yard, so I found a ball peen hammer and went right out there. I could hear the laser blast sounds running right up the cables.

I was not aware of this back and forth:

Quote:

When its computer graphics division got too expensive to maintain, he sold it to Steve Jobs in 1986 for $10 million. Jobs renamed it Pixar. Disney bought Pixar twenty years later for $7.4 billion.

My understanding is that Lucasfilm purchased computer animation technology developed by Nolan Bushnell for his Chuck E Cheese restaurants and combined it with what they working on. Bushnell sold his technology after the 1983 video game crash. Lucas sold it off to Jobs and Apple after his divorce from his first wife, and Jobs eventually developed it into Pixar. It's fascinating to me that Pixar can trace its lineage to both Star Wars and Chuck E Cheese, and that the video game crash and Lucas' costly divorce were triggers for the sale.

So in a way you could connect/blame E.T. for assisting in creating Pixar…..because the production of the E.T. video game for Atari leaving millions of unsold copies helped cause the video game crash….

You're not wrong but you're missing a chapter.

The computer graphics group at Lucasfilm started in the late 70s with Ed Cattmull and several others migrating from NYIT to Lucasfilm, they invented a ton of the basis for modern day VFX and animation like alpha channels and texture mapping. John Lasseter joined a few years later and they started making some of the early shorts you may have seen as well as some of the first digital VFX with ILM.

Somewhere in there they also acquired the software you mentioned, then a few years later they spun off into Pixar as an independent studio, focused on hardware to start, and Lucas sold it to Jobs. They started doing commercials to pay the bills as well as developing software for Disney and releasing other commercial software before developing Toy Story in the early 90s.
