I was 10 years old and losing my mind when he came out of the crowd. A moment I still remember and the kick starter for the greatest era of pro wrestling that will ever exist. Without this, we don't get the NWO, the Attitude Era…it all starts with Scott Hall pretending to be Razor Ramone on WCW tv

I can't believe it's been almost 30 years.

I was convinced he was actually there to wreck WCW on behalf of the WWF and kept yelling at the TV for them to call the police.

Most of my Monday nights for the next two years were spent glued to the TV.

Johnny Ace has settled with the plaintiff and will cooperate in the suit against Vince.

I get some Scott Hall vibes (maybe just from his entrance walk) from Penta. Can't really explain it other than what the kids call "aura".

If that's true, I wonder if he may have requested that release to go join Vince's new company. I think I've heard that Ron is very close to the Vince.

He's been with WWE for 17 years, and mainly appears as a jester/fool.

Eventually that role becomes stale, and maybe he wanted to move on.

Another one. Seems like they are freeing up some money for upcoming signings. Mariah May being one of the big ones.

Does he do anything in Judgment Day besides chomp on apples and interfere in random matches?

That's probably why he made the 'stealing money' joke, he knows what he's been doing.

A lot of rumors circulating this week that Triple H may be on the way out when his contract is up.

Also seeing a lot more people tweeting about this being the end of the WWE as they know it as they are getting a lot of push back for the sponsorships crap all over the ring and some of their favorite stars being cut.

Slim Jim's just bought the advertising rights to the WWE tables. So now anytime anyone pulls out a table it will have a giant Slim Jim's logo on it and when someone goes through it the commentators will loudly announce that they snapped into the Slim Jim's table. I wish I was making this up.

Listened to a MLB radio broadcast lately?

Or an NFL local radio broadcast?

WWE is late to the party.

Not saying I like ... just noting that the slippery slope where money drives virtually any and every decision ... is geeting steeeper and more slippery by the second.
Be more concerned with your character than with your reputation. Your character is what you really are while your reputation is merely what others think you are.

Sorry to interrupt this discussion, but I have a question:

I was watching some old YouTube clips of WCW circa 1997 and I came across a segment I had forgotten about.

Macho Man comes out to the ring and cuts a promo about being "blackballed" and sits in a chair, refusing to leave until he gets some resolution. Sting (crow-sting in this era) comes out, circles the chair, acts like he's going to attack Savage, gives him the bat instead, and then they leave together through the crowd - not a word was said.

A week or two later, DDP is in the ring doing a repeat of Savages promise, and Savage and Sting come out and the exact same scene from above plays out.

My question is: what was the payoff here? It seemed like Sting was putting together a Raven's Flock type of group of wrestlers who felt like they'd been betrayed by WCW but didn't want to join the NWO. But I can't remember it going anywhere and, based on the clips, it seems like Savage wound up joining the NWO very shortly after this.

Anyway, could have been really cool to see a group like this with Sting, Savage, and DDP take on the NWO. Instead, they just had everyone join the NWO and we see where it got them.

Anyone watching Worlds Collide? First match was great and the post match too. Set up a new MITB match for tonight.

Yeah unfortunately it didn't go much of anywhere.

It had only been a very short time since Sting announced he was considering himself a free agent and wasn't aligning with WCW or the NWO. Sting did this bat thing to a lot of wrestlers including Lex Luger and the Steiners. Symbolically I think they were going for a test where he could figure out who his true friends were, or if not friends at least people he could trust to not take a cheap shot on him. They never really followed up on it though.

Unfortunately a few months into the NWO the group started getting more and more convoluted and too big, in my opinion. There was no logical reason for Savage to join. Even less so for The Giant. They left The Giant for dead at Hog Wild and humiliated him on the mat, then a few weeks later he's part of the group? Oh and Nash powerbombs Eric Bischoff. But a few weeks later guess who also joins the NWO?

None of it seems like it was well planned out. At the very beginning they had a great angle with Hall, Nash, and eventually Hogan but after that point (and especially after August of that year) they really were just flying by the seat of their pants with no real longer term plan.

That all being said, I'm kind of glad Sting did not form a group or some sort of flock. He was a much better character as a solo guy lurking in the shadows, coming from anywhere at any time. That was must see television. I would glue myself to TNT for 2 hours just to see if Sting would show up.

Started watching late, so in the woman's ladder match. Is it me or are there a lot of empty seats.

Nevermind the darkness of the arena and the green lights on the seats/aisles made it look empty

The green lights made it look more empty than it was. When the spotlights go over seats, it showed people. That being said, it was not sold out to start. Looked like people filled in by the second match.

Everything I've been reading says that his contract really wasn't being renewed and that he was effectively gone, but WWE couldn't ignore the fan response. His new deal was quickly put together along with the reappearance at MITB. I thought WWE calling him Ron Killings in their official posts was interesting. I can't remember the last time they didn't call him R Truth (outside of his social handles tagging).
