I am interested. Not much character development but I appreciate they are setting it up and not rushing.

I think it's fantastic....imagine what it would be like if there were an entire channel devoted to history programming...

Some of the accents have been a bit hard to follow, but the action has been good and they're laying the groundwork for what I think will be a very good series.

Just watched it on DVR, and it's kicked off pretty well.

Liked it, I just can't understand how dude's father sounds "American", yet he sounds Irish.

I had to rely on closed captioning for a lot of it.

Did they kill Simcoe? I couldn't tell/wasn't paying attention.

Captured him and are planning on getting information from him.

No. Simcoe is still alive.

That was the conversation at the end. The courier thought they should kill him because they promised to, but the spymaster wanted to interrogate him first.

P.S. I don't remember any of the character's names.

The men that started the spy ring were Benjamin Tallmadge, Abraham Woodhull, and Caleb Brewster. The identities of Woodhull and Brewster were so closely guarded that most historians don't think that Washington himself knew who they were.

The bravery of those men, in a time where execution without trial wasn't uncommon, was incredible.

There are some pretty good books and several easy to read articles about the Culper Ring.

I liked it. Pilots tend to plod along during the first 30, but I think it picked up well toward the end of the premiere.

Pretty slow at first but that is not uncommon with shows like this. You have to develop characters for a back story. I am going to continue watching it.

I really liked it. Definitely had to pay attention, I'll probably rewatch it just to get a better grip on the story.

I told some people this seems like it'll go one of two ways: it'll be an amazing story, or feel like a boring HS history lesson. From what I saw last night, I think the former option can be thrown out. The end of the episode left me wanting more.

I saw on tvline.com that several people were disappointed--I'm glad to come here and see others enjoyed it and will keep watching!

I really enjoyed it, but I'm a history nut so I enjoy most period pieces. I will say the costumes, staging, and scenery are excellent and certainly indicate attention to detail.
I can forgive most language mistakes. This is for entertainment after all

AMC has been putting out some great series as of late, breaking bad, walking dead, mad men to name a few. This one has potential.

Agreed. I liked how the intro was from the Loyalist perspective.

Many think that history is just some boring narrative of people, places, and facts. They don't consider that these are just people, and they had no idea how their story would go. I wish we could see more historical fiction shows, theres a lot that can be told.

I bought the book for my dad at Christmas, I might need to borrow it from him...

I started watching it with On Demand but since AMC doesn't show it in HD that was strike one. I made it about 20 min in and then turned it off, it was just going so slow. After reading some of your comments I might try and go back and finish it.

Sad I missed this. Just finished Cornwell's The Fort. From an entertainment potential standpoint, it's a very under appreciated era.

Exactly. Great angle to start with, the wife and I were talking about how insane that would be to have all your friends and family split up and taking different sides based on their beliefs and how the war changed those beliefs and lives forever. Looks like AMC has another great series in store for us.

Really enjoyed the series so far. I felt like tonight's episode really started showing what kind of tight rope he had to walk to survive.

GREAT episode this week. It went from the kiddy pool to the deep end pretty quickly. The Queen's Ranger character provides an AWESOME dynamic.
