Post your best moments!

The Footloose joke was obviously one of the top ones, especially followed up by Gamora's reference later on.

I about lost it when Peter calked Rocket "Ranger Rick."

I thought they did a great job making all of Peter's references 80s-based.

The movie had real heart. I thought it started out a tiny but slow and a tiny bit clumsy, but obviously they had to get the band together quickly. Once it got on with it, it really took off.

Couldn't believe how great Groot was.

Just really solid. The funniest Marvel movie for sure. Up in the top half overall (hard to judge after only one viewing).

I thought they started out trying a bit too hard to be funny and crazy, but once they got together and started working together, I thought everything flowed more naturally.

In addition to the Footloose line, I like the Jackson Pollock line.

The post credit scene was so out of left field I'm still in disbelief.

Howard showing up was the perfect tag to all of the 80s goodness.

If the movie has a market flaw, I just don't know if someone who is 21 years old is even going to understand half of what's going on, at least as far as the pop culture stuff goes. This movie was made for children of the 80s.

The black light / pollack line was hilarious.

Overall, I thought it was a good comedy, but not a great space opera. I enjoyed it, but not as much as I thought I would because it wasn't quite what I thought it would be.

I was also a bit disappointed with how rough around the edges the narrative was compared to most marvel movies. I never really understood what the ravagers were - at first I thought it was just a word for scavengers, but then they seemed to have a sort of culture and fleet? - the team needing gamorra to deactivate Ronan's security doors, only for her to just blast a hole in the floor and hop on up moments later, and the head ravager with the magic arrow killing a ton of Kree without anyone bothering to fire a shot (plus a bunch of other small things) was all just a bit disappointing.

That said, the jokes were great and it did keep me laughing. I'd probably rank it a middle of the pack marvel movie around the level of Captain America 1 and Thor 1.

I can't wait to see the Howard the duck reveal. My great uncle actually built that flying machine in the original film that Howard flew. I only found out a few months ago that it was a marvel property

If you are familiar with the comics, there are a ton of things that you got that no one else did. Cosmo, Yondu's arrow, and much more. This movie is enjoyable for the average movie goer, but for fans of Marvel I thought it was awesome. Top 3 marvel movie for me, and one of the better opening credit sequences I've seen in a long time.

My favorite line: "There now I'm standing up. We're all standing up. Like a bunch of jackasses."

I am going to have to see this one in the theater at least one more time.

Anybody catch the Fillion cameo in the prison? Vin Diesel should just stay to acting like a tree.

I thought this was a very good movie. I was surprised by the retro feel of everything as it felt like this could have been released in the 1980s. It had that retro post Star Wars vide. Replace puppetry with CGI and you have a modern day take on 80s classics like Farscape (with better humor). It didn't really feel like a comic book movie but more like a Men in Black type which is refreshing with a Marvel release. I guess if I had to nitpick, there were a couple of eye rolling moments where I thought the jokes didn't work and this felt more like a parody movie at times which kept if from having that true epic feel that the great comic book films have. But this is probably my favorite Marvel cinematic universe release since the original Iron Man. I give it a solid A.

Fanboy speculation: we all know they have a sequel on the way, but during the credits, it just said "The Guardians will return." Do you guys think we will see them as a tease in Avengers 2 or Antman?
Nonregdrummer09

I think they will be part of Avengers 3 to some degree, but Avengers 2 is focusing on the Ultron story line, so it be weird to see them there for that.

I think the obvious play here is for Thanos to be more involved in Guardians 2 as a set up to Avengers 3, hopefully we will meet Death at some point in that storyline and get a better backstory on the cosmic beings and immortals (including the Collector, they still really haven't explained who the Collector is or where he comes from) and maybe that all happens in Guardians 2. Also, we will probably meet Star-Lord (aka Peter's dad.)

As fun as Guardians is, it's actually very important to the MCU as it's the first time Marvel has used the words "Infinity Stones" even though that's what everyone knew they were hinting at in the last 9 movies.

So we've now seen 3 Infinity Stones with the Tesseract (Space), the Aether, and now the Power stone. The colors are mixed up, but we are half there with the stones. I imagine the 2nd Guardians will have Thanos finally getting all of them, and the 3rd Avengers will basically be the Infinity Gauntlet story with Thanos.

Also hoping in the 2nd Guardians, they go to Knowhere, and Cosmo (the dog) is in charge of security.

Can't believe they threw a Celestial in there.

And Quill presenting the Orb to the Collector was greatness.

I cried laughing when Groot has his "puny God" moment and then just smiled. Between that and Batista telling everyone individually that they were his friends......

That's the hardest I've laughed at a movie in a very long time.

I will say this though, Gamora was not as bad ass as she should have been. She had to be saved by Peter or Drax more than once and she's supposed to be the deadliest assassin in the universe, so I was a little surprised how little she was able to handle herself. It's a small complaint but just one that I thought is legitimate. Movie was still awesome.

For an actress like Saldana, she was the weakest link in the film. Groot had more personality at times, and certainly more facial expressions.

I didn't even recognize Cooper's voice, and he did such a fantastic job.

I may say that the story wasn't fantastic, pretty generic, but the dialogue and humor were awesome. I laughed more at this movie than I have at 95% of any recent comedies. It was very entertaining, and groot's smile after rampaging the bad guys was one of the funniest moments for me. I really liked Cooper's job with rocket, definitely a great voice job.

I thought the whole cast was spot on, especially as an ensemble. One of my favorite moments, which I've seen several times via the clips that were released in the past several weeks, was the discussion of Quill's "plan". Just perfect timing and delivery by all of them.

Yeah I was gonna say the casting was knocked out of the park. I was shocked at how well Batista did.

One of my favorite lines was when Groot lit up the area and Drax asked him how he did that and Star-Lord replies with,

"I'm pretty sure the answer is, 'I am Groot.'"

One of my favorite character aspects was Groot's speech, with Rocket translating everything like the Lassie and Timmy falling down the well.

I wish their was an ounce more slapstick comedy to it. Everyone was 95% competent, if they lowered it to 90% and the others in the group had to make up the difference it would have been better.

Loved the Groot dancing part. As mentioned, the casting was spot on in all aspects, although I did expect Gamora to be more badass. The timing and writing definitely helped the movie. I was shocked that Footloose wasn't in the score.
