Just back and that was an absolute blast. Groot's smile was the winner for me, but so many great moments.

If you are familiar with the comics, there are a ton of things that you got that no one else did. Cosmo, Yondu's arrow, and much more. This movie is enjoyable for the average movie goer, but for fans of Marvel I thought it was awesome. Top 3 marvel movie for me, and one of the better opening credit sequences I've seen in a long time.

Any recommendations? Was waiting till after seeing it to read the comics, looking now there's quite a few that seem to differ from each other.

Was thinking the same.

I've fallen behind in the latest guardians comic run but at the beginning Rocket really is condescending to Stark because he knows nothing in a galactic sense.

I will say this though, Gamora was not as bad ass as she should have been. She had to be saved by Peter or Drax more than once and she's supposed to be the deadliest assassin in the universe, so I was a little surprised how little she was able to handle herself. It's a small complaint but just one that I thought is legitimate. Movie was still awesome.

This. My only complaint from the beginning was the casting of Gamora, and now having seen it, that was my only letdown. Wrong actress, and she wasn't nearly badass enough. Other than that, absolutely loved it.

Not making excuses, but she will obviously be right up front when it comes time to deal with Thanos. She'll get her moment.

Awesome movie.

So, how does the Annihilation Wars play into this? I read that randomly a couple of years ago and Ronan was alive in that.

Another favorite part was when Rocket really didn't need that guy's prosthetic leg!

What I enjoyed most about this was the 2 second shot of the leg guy looking at Quill going, "You want what?" While Quill is just standing there trying to play it off cool and casual in the middle of a prison riot. Just a quick shot but it told so much story. Loved it.

Well there's a fantastic critical analysis.

If you hated it then hey, more power to you, but some sort of reasoning would at least help you not get written off as a complete troll.

Hey! We found the 4%!

Just curious, what didn't you like about it? It was bound to happen and I'm sure you have your reasons. I'm just curious what you didn't like about it.

I loved the movie.

My question is why this is even considered a comic book movie. It was closer to Star Wars than Avengers. I realize they get involved with the Avengers later, but this movie stands fully on its own. Instead of Luke, Han, Chewy, and Leia, you have Starlord, Rocket, Groot, and Gamora. Thanos looks like the Emperor anyway. The infinity stone is a combination of the force and light saber. Anyway, there are so many parallels.

Great Space Opera. My favorite character was Starlord. No wait- Rocket. Forgot about Drax! Yes, Drax.

Yup, because no one loves this movie and it will lose tons of money. I don't know how Marvel will survive.

I was actually surprised by how much my GF enjoyed this movie. She went in convinced that it was going to be completely stupid. Within the first ten minutes she had already cried and then laughed out loud.

My wife was an emotional wreck during and after the film but she loved it. (We just lost her mom a few weeks ago).

The first scene of Quill's was pretty "dust in the air" for me, too. I lost my mom to cancer when I was 10.

Sorry for y'all's loss YouBet. Losing your mom is always hard and even harder when she is gone too young. Those moments still get me and my mom has been gone going on 8 years.

After edit: Sorry for you too Rob.

And it also speaks to the overall story telling by Marvel. They put something for everyone in there.

It's considered a comic movie because it's based on a series of comics. The misconception is that all comic movies are super hero movies. They can also be Sci-Fi, or Fantasy, or drama, or any other genre. V for Vendetta is a comic movie. Road to Perdition is a comic movie. Scott Pilgrim is a comic movie.

I'm not trying to be a jerk to whoever posed the question. Its actually something common, that people stereotype "comic movies" a certain way.

Now what I would like, is if people would stop lumping them all together a comic movies, and just consider them movies, which happen to have comics as their source material. Maybe then jaggoffs like VanZandt92 will stop going in with his preconceived notions of how ****ty all "comic movies" are.

I spent 15 on that for 3d. The 3d didn't even keep it from being marginally less bad.

About 30 minutes in, you realize nothing is to be taken seriously, and then it feels like 3 hours to wrap up a disturbingly bad plot. What the hell were the purpose of Glenn Close and Vin Diesel? Oh, that's right, to pick up a paycheck.

I wasn't sure I was supposed to care about the galaxy (or was or planet?) to be destroyed. I know one thing, by the end, I was rooting for Ronin to crack a few jokes whilst ripping Quill's nutsack. That at least would have been less predictable.

The movie was a great example of why comic book lovers shouldn'tbe given access to the bank vault. While you wouldn't think they could make a sequel to the movie, id bet anything they are considering it. The mental heavyweights at the studios...

Screw it, I just want my two hours that felt like six hours back. That and my fifteen dollars. To think I could have watched a rerun of Jonathan Q Football pulling a game out of his ass, instead of Marvel rubbing my face in the fact that I can no longer empathize with people who read the sorts of comics on which this awful movie was based.

You realize that this movie has been enjoyed primarily by people who have never even touched a comic book, let alone a Guardians comic, right?

You don't have to like it, but whatever. The venom you spew exposes you as a troll. For once I wish we could have a board that didn't devolve into Zoo shtick.

So a guy that doesn't like comic book movies goes and sees a comic book movie and is pissed that he hated it?

And this post is just idiotic. These movies make a crap ton of money and are loved by millions of people, but because YOU don't like them you are going to criticize the decision making of Hollywood. The problem isn't with the comic book lovers are the "mental heavyweights".

Yeah, I think comic books are pretty stupid, to be honest. Never understood their popularity.

That being said, I enjoyed the sh/t outta this movie. And I had, when I first saw commercials/trailers for it, thought it was the stupidest friggin' thing I'd ever seen that wasn't named "Pacific Rim" ( ). So, I went in not figuring I'd enjoy it as much as I did.

I'm not certain I'd call it the best Marvel movie, to date, and definitely not the best movie I've seen this year. That title is reserved for "Apes", so far. But it wasn't bad, by any means, and had something for everyone. Comedy, action, drama, action, sh/t exploding, action, and more comedy.

Clearly someone should tell Kevin that he and Marvel should just pack up and stop making movies as they clearly don't know what they're doing.

They have greenlit a sequel, so there is at least one accurate part of your post.

Perfect plot? Nope.

Great action sequences, solid VFX, and a bunch of snappy one liners? Sounds like a great summer movie to me.

I have to say, I wasn't sure how well Bradley Cooper could pull off voice acting for Rocket, but I was pleasantly surprised.

Interested to see what the next installment holds. Also wondering when we will see Nebula again since she escaped.

So you went on opening weekend and paid for 3d prices to see a genre that you claim to hate? LOL. I bet you just can't wait to go see the sequel that's already green lit
