It's funny you say that because behind me at the theater I heard a young guy say, "Who is that?"

Not being knowledgeable of the entire GotG world, can someone tell me who Star Lord's father is?

I think they'll change this but currently in the comics his dad is J'Son, a galactic emperor of Spartax. At one point his dad was defined as murderous but they changed that in favor of the emperor storyline.

One interesting tidbit about the post credits scene:

Howard the Duck, the movie, was released on August 1st in 1986. 28 years ago to the day of the Guardians release date.

Did it bother anybody else that Quill (and to some degree Gamora/Drax) could fly around in space with his skin completely exposed and be a-OK?

It bothered me, but I think they are chalking it up to enhancements that they have. I know they specifically reference Gamora for that.

^ I also went ahead and pretended there was some kind of limited atmosphere in those areas. Knowhere in particular had people walking around inside the open-air floating skull just nearby.

I thoroughly enjoyed this movie. In addition to all the great moments already mentioned, I thought some of the facial expressions of Drax were funny as hell!

Loved this movie. Dick message line had me laughing the hardest. Also, when Rocket tried to take that ravager's eye.

Was that a sentinel across from space dog at the collectors place, or was I imagining things? When rocket growled at him it kind of looked like one.

Loved the "getting trolled" at the end. Also enjoyed the dick message line. Pratt knocked it out of the park

I loved how Drax lacked the ability to understand metaphors or symbolism:

"Why would I put my finger to his throat?"

"Nothing goes over my head. My reflexes are too fast. I would catch it!"

The Ravager giving him a playful punch on the arm.

"Never call me a thesaurus again!"

And then Gamora caught his disease when she asked "who put the sticks up their butts!?"

This is the thought I had as well. Isn't it crazy that it's the relatively little scientific stuff that we get hung up on for comic book movies?

I really enjoyed it, I will definitely see it again in theaters. I cried over Groot. He may have been my favorite character. I wish there would have been a little more background about who the ravenvers were though. I think it is probably top 3 or 4 for me for Marvel, up there with Iron Man, Cap 2 and Avengers.

So the biggest question of all . . .

Is Howard the Duck making a come back. In a time where DC can't get a Wonder Woman comic off the ground, Marvel just revealed Howard the Duck.

And the voice was Seth Green.

Well considering they are interplanetary travelers who go on various planets and breath the air, lets just assume they are all really exposed to radiation. And since none of them are human, they have generations of living in high-radiation exposed worlds.

Also, you can technically survive ~2mins in space in Earths orbit. Although you will have your lungs emptied of air and you freeze pretty quick. But you can survive it.

I actually wonder if they brought in any consultants for the "survive the vacuum" thing. On Thor, they consulted a team of astrophysicists to get all of the dark matter and wormhole stuff right.

That was really funny.

This was such a quotable movie.

Can you imagine Avengers 3 where they have these guys meet the Avengers. Can you just imagine the conversations Stark, Thor, and Rogers are going to have with them. The comedy gold is going to be great.

I got the impression that Quill had been back to Earth off and on over the years considering the amount of 80's memorabilia he had.

I can't wait to watch the interactions between Rocket and Tony Stark.

I thought Thanos looked damn good. But then again, I have been a HUGE Thanos fan ever since the Infinity Gauntlet series.

I think one of the things that really made me laugh was that Michael Rooker and the rest of the Ravagers all had Southern good-ol-boy accents. Rooker in particular was a blast as a blue-faced redneck.

And my bet is that there was an alien technology that he used that could power his Walkman for a thousand years.
