Finished Ironheart. It's ok, lots of pros and cons, but it tees up a season 2 that will definitely never happen. It's probably like watching Black Adam or the Gifted or something in 2025, knowing that whatever is being set up is merely there to be left hanging.

Let's count the threads that haven't been picked up:
- Young Avengers (hopefully they do get to this but right now it's just a compilation of Disney+ young girl characters)
- the Eternals, including Star Fox, Blade and Black Knight
- the origin of Shang-Chi's rings (I still believe that they didn't know what they were teasing with this when they teased it)
- the Power Broker
- White Vision (whose show will come out, at least)
- anything from Ironheart
- the Venom symbiote in universe 616
- Clea and incursions (presumably to come up in Secret Wars but that wasn't written in 2022)
- Hercules
- anything from She-Hulk
- anything from Agatha All Along (no chance we get a sequel, but maybe Billy will appear in Vision Quest…? Unlikely)
- anything from Echo (good, terrible show)
- anything from Secret Invasion (even worse show)
- anything from Quantumania (Ant-Man will return in Doomsday but that may be it)
- Monica Rambeau in some kind of X-Men universe (maybe Secret Wars)

Maybe half will be picked up, but even that's pretty generous.

That shows me that there's a lot of Marvel I'm behind on.
And I won't ever be able to even try to watch them all.

I couldn't finish Ironheart. Just too many other things to do with my time.

incredible…..

How many end credits scenes/threads were left untouched in phases 1-3? Ima guess zero….

Good question. The full list of end credit scenes is here: https://marvelcinematicuniverse.fandom.com/wiki/List_of_Post-credits_Scenes

Looks like every post credit scene arguably paid off in some way - often big ways - until Dr Strange's post credit scene with Mondo stealing a wizard's power and saying there were too many sorcerers.
And then I don't think we ever saw him again.

Even after that, almost every post credit scene went somewhere until It all fell off a cliff in phase 4.
Thanks and gig'em

Captain America films a public service announcement on the importance of patience and breaks the fourth wall, informing the audience that they waited around for nothing

We all thought this was a "nothing" stinger, but turns out Cap was warning us about Phases 4 and 5

Is The Incredibles a Disney/Marvel property?

Kumail Nanjiani talks with EW about all the contracts he signed when he was cast in Eternals

"I was like, 'Oh, this is going to be my job for the next 10 years. I signed on for six movies. I signed on for a video game. I signed on for a theme park ride," Nanjiani shared. "They make you sign up for all this stuff. And you're like, 'This is the next 10 years of my life, so I'll be doing Marvel movies every year and, in between, I'll do my own little things, whatever I want to do.' And then none of that happened."

Sucks even more on how that dude worked out like crazy to get ripped and jacked for the role and you never saw much of it and it was only for one movie….

Man that sucks dude

Also….6 movies?????? Did they have titles or vague descriptions???? There was an idea at one point we were going to see the Eternals characters in 5 other films????

I actually really liked The Eternals and I would have been very interested to see it get more developed. I liked his character very much too.

Just finished rewatching the MCU movies in chronological order from The First Avenger to Endgame with the family, around one movie a night, having not seen any since 2019, and many since their initial release.

In many cases it felt as though we were seeing the film for the first time.

And all of us were sad, about three weeks later, when the ride was over.

Now what ?

If you need help, I can find you better stuff to do in Hawaii than rewatch Marvel movies.

It's worse than you think brother,

Been in California for 9 years. Watching the MCU helps to forget we're here.

Well you'd assume one of them was Eternals 2, I guess. Maybe Shang CHi 2 as well since it had the "cosmic connection" ending with Hulk and Cap Marvel.

They easily could have been pushed into Dr. Strange 2 or Thor 4 as well.

I've only seen about half of Eternals. It seemed a lot more like a 90s big budget action movie like Deep Impact more than a Marvel movie. Very few laughs, everyone's serious except the audience, and we have to take on an immense amount of exposition to get to the scenes where stuff starts exploding.

Oh, I just decided to look at the "top box office for 2025." World wide, FF4 has already passed both Brave New World and Thunderbolts. Domestically it has passed F1 and Mission Impossible and is barely trailing How to Train Your Dragon. So, I don't know that it's doing all that terribly relative to everything else. Lilo and Stitch and Minecraft, both kids movies, are tops, with Jurrassic World behind them.

To have F4 surpass Thunderbolts and Cap4 worldwide should have been expected….cap4 and thunderbolts were massive flops and if F4 did worse than them worldwide we would've seen Marvel gone into panic mode like never before and that would've been a shock.

Domestically I'm also not surprised that it's passed F1….that was an original movie with zero fan base to build from and worldwide it's close to 580 million….

Mission impossible is nearly at 600 million worldwide….

Dragon is at 623 million worldwide…..

While F4 is struggling to hit 500 million worldwide…..

Can't cherry pick statistics here…the international box office matters just as much as domestic and recent films from DC and the MCU have shown feigning interest from the international box office…

Unless something drastic changes the MCU is going to have to accept if they want these films to make money they can't keep operating on 200 million + budgets with 100 - 150 million marketing budgets because the return just isn't there anymore….

I think considering Thunderbolts a flop is wrong

Did it make or lose money?

Still taking TAs way too seriously I see.

And so as not to derail for the overly sensitive types, or people who believe, jokingly or otherwise, nobody does anything in Hawaii except stay at the beach (may haole skin can only take so much),

I thoroughly enjoyed rewatching the MCU.

(I even starred your post TC. I figured I'd hear from you )

Anyways, carry on.

I met an overdramatic statement with dumb *****t's Creek gif.

There's absolutely nothing "serious" about that.

Y'all have to quit going to that same, dumb well.

Maybe it was discussed in the thread for First Steps (or here]) and I missed it, but I'm curious about Doom's origin for his powers. Pretty sure in First Steps he wasn't part of the space mission.

I think giving him powers at all is a movie invention (though I don't know about the Ultimate universe or anything). He's more of a tech genius who also practices sorcery.

From the internets:

Doctor Doom's powers stem from a blend of genius-level intellect, mastery of various magics, a technologically advanced suit of armor, and a will of iron. His armor provides superhuman strength and durability, as well as numerous high-tech weapons and gadgets, while his magical abilities include flight, energy manipulation, and dream-walking. His intellect allows him to create devices like time machines and robots, and his immense willpower makes him a formidable and enduring adversary
