I know in the multiverse anything can be anything, but is Deadpool really in the MCU? I may have missed the connection somewhere.
Umm, yeah.
There was a wrecked helicarrier in the background of one of his movies.

so is that one of the theaters where directors/actors will sometimes surprise audiences and talk about the film?TCTTS said:
Five minutes before showtime and there's maybe 30 people here. In a 900-seat theater - the most popular theater in the world, in the heart of Hollywood - opening night of a Marvel movie. Never seen anything remotely like this. So depressing.

So the movie comes out last night.
And I sit down to my computer this morning, and on the stock news home page that comes up when I open the browser is a big headline article from Inverse: "What *********'s Cameo Means for ******* in the MCU"
I'm a gentleman, so where they named the characters, I redacted it.
What in the holy hell is wrong with these people?

i was just thinking how incredibly awkward that would be if they'd planned that and the theater was nearly empty.

A darker and lower than expected weekend could be awaiting #TheMarvels, after the MCU sequel grossing 6.6M on THU Previews (that started 3pm!!!!) at US #BoxOffice, a far cry below #CaptainMarvel’s 20.7M

Alright I'm back from my Europe trip, up early with jet lag and have a Saturday to kill, so I might go see this.
I haven't seen Ms Marvel, Secret Invasion, or Loki S2 (yet). Is there any major stuff I need to know beforehand?

Also, what were the specifics of the bet again? Was it $500M+ you were betting on TPE?
Cause... yeah.

Where in Europe? We were in Italy and still battling jet lag 3 days later.

THE MARVELS is in its own box office universe—just $21M on Friday (including previews) and an estimated $45M-$50M this weekend.

Yes, that’s the lowest MCU debut on record. Of all time, of any time.

A record no MCU film would like to hold… #TheMarvels grossed disastrous 21.3M FRI Opening Day at US #BoxOffice, incl 6.6M THU Previews!
— Luiz Fernando (@Luiz_Fernando_J) November 11, 2023
Lowest Opening Day in #MCU’s history, under #TheIncredibleHulk’s 21.5M and #AntMan’s 22.6M.
Almost 3x lower than #CaptainMarvel’s 61.7M.

It's absolutely worth seeing. It's nothing amazing, and needs work for sure, but it's a lot of fun, and genuinely funny.

When you think about Kamala Khan. Tom Holland, Kate Bishop, Yelena Belova, Shang Chi as the future of the Marvel Universe, these are all very very loveable characters that I want to keep seeing.

Bit of a derail, but I had my second celebrity encounter in London last week.
Went to a little cafe in Soho in the late afternoon, and Bill Nighy was sitting there eating a sandwich. There was a guy in there who kept looking over and I could tell was working up the courage to say something. He finally did, and turns out he was an aspiring actor. Bill asked him to sit with him and they had a full on, 20 minute conversation. I thought that was really cool of him.
Right before I was getting ready to leave, another couple went up and asked for a selfie, so I took that as my in to ask for one. Grabbed a pic, and took the opportunity to tell him how much I loved About Time. He said it was one of his favorites.
Super cool encounter, and a very nice guy.
Nope. I'm running this joke into the ground until I'm dead or perma-banned from TexAgs.Brian Earl Spilner said:
