Pure weekend was $15M, which is about half of what Blue Beetle did. ($29M)

And in my prediction I actually was including Thursday in that….

This is an interesting thought process. A movie like Madam Webb could possibly make more money if tickets were $5-7. I'd go see it for cheap with friends and make fun of it after.

Maybe this was discussed, but I didn't think Madame Web was part of the MCU?

It's not. But I think nobody really believes it's worth its own thread.

Just to be clear, technically everything Marvel is part of the "MCU" now, via the multiverse. Feige himself recently confirmed this. Maguire's Spider-Man, Garfield's Spider-Man, the Fox X-Men, even Fox's old Daredevil, Electra, and Bullseye… they're all now simply part of various branched timelines/alternate universes, any of one of which either already has, can, or will interact with Earth 616. And if that wasn't already apparent, Deadpool & Wolverine - followed by Avengers 5&6 to the nth degree - will absolutely make sure that it is.

Who is the new captain america in the new movie? I can't recall who they handed it off to in endgame. Is that who is going to star in the new one?

Sam Wilson, formerly the Falcon. He has a Disney+ show about it.

Wyatt Russell is the actor. He's in that Falcon D+ series too. I think he'll go by US Agent moving forward.

Remember kids, if you steal an NYC cab removing the license plate is useless unless you also remove the rooftop duty light. They're both the same number

I'm just hoping Galactus gets here sooner than later and destroys 85% of the MCU as a way of retconning the last few years of junk.

I just paid $19.89 to see Drive-Away Dolls next weekend at the Alamo Drafthouse LA.

Paid $29.14 per ticket to see Dune: Part Two the week after that in IMAX.

I can't remember the last time I paid less than even $15 for a ticket. Close to a decade ago?

Wow I pay 29.99 for my Alamo season pass in dc and I can go to a movie per day. The amc program is even cheaper.

I do have to pay the 2 dollar service charge which annoys me so much but yeah

If and when I start going to Alamo Drafthouse more than once a month the season pass will be worth it.

As for AMC, I avoid that place like the plague and only see movies there if it's the only place they're playing. Otherwise, the audiences are worse, the movies start half an hour after the listed showtime, the popcorn/food is disgusting, and I'm simply not a fan of the overall cheesy corporate vibe.

I'll take the Landmark, the ArcLight, the Chinese, the Egyptian, etc over AMC any day of the week.

I hated going to amc here too. Way too far for the good screens out in the suburbs vs a less than 10 minute ride in the metro for drafthouse. Much better vibe

It's a really long and self-congratulatory trailer about the magic of movies and being back in cinemas after the pandemic. For some reason it's been going for like 3 years now.

The actual AMC where they shot the Kidman spot isn't too far from me - about 40 minutes away in Porter Ranch - and I do admit I've always been curious to check it out, as it does seem nicer than most AMCs. I also can't help but want to step in that puddle with the reflection, just like she does. Pretty cool that's it's actually natural like that...

Agree with every point you made 100%. It really is a pretty ****ty experience. But living in Dallas I just can't justify not using A-List. If I had access to any of the theaters you mentioned (been to the Egyptian and Chinese and they're both awesome) I would probably do the same thing and say its worth the extra expenses.

If it weren't for AMC A-List having IMAX and Dolby in Dallas I probably wouldn't even do it - because otherwise it really is just a garbage experience all the way around. Honestly going to AMC has kind of soured me on movies. Like I said, sometimes I just spend $16 to go to the Drafthouse when I could see the same movie for free at AMC because I'm just over it.

I did go to the biggest IMAX in North America last night at an AMC in Manhattan though and that was pretty awesome. It truly gave Madame Web the spectacle and treatment it deserved.

I hear you.

I'm well aware how batsh*t insane this is, but I also can't stand AMC's red seats/walls. For me, even in the dark, even if subconsciously, the red clashes with the images on the screen. I'm a believer that movie theater seats/walls should only be black, gray, or another neutral tone, so as to let the screen "shine," so to speak.

This is all to say that at least most of newer AMC IMAX and Dolby theaters feature black or gray seats/walls, and thankfully ditch the standard red, so I totally get going to those theaters. And I do admit, the Dolby theaters, in particular, are pretty sick, as I'm sure that NY IMAX is too.

(My only exception to the "red rule" is the Chinese, which unfortunately has red seats, but the whole theater is so cool and ornate, and has so much history, that I can give it a pass.)

Went to a few movies at that IMAX. Interstellar was probably the highlight, since it was shot in 70MM. But TFA on opening night was pretty great too.

Son of a *****... that's never even registered with me, and I guarantee you next time I'm in the theater I won't be able to not see this anymore.

The Dolby in Dallas is the real reason I keep A-List. I don't even really love the IMAX at that theater. The Dolby is great though, and the only way to see blockbusters in the metroplex.

I was in New York for like 2.5 weeks during Oppenheimer's run... was shocked and annoyed that I could not get into an IMAX showing the entire time I was there (at that theater). Pretty impressive to be honest.

The theater seats are red. It's a major turnoff.

Wow.

I couldn't tell you what color the seats are at the theaters we visit. I'm looking at the screen.

I have no idea why, but I saw a random video on YouTube one day explaining why theater seats are red, and it hd to do with how red is the first color we lose the ability to see in low light… so there ya have it.
