IMO, it's probably more of a big city thing. I've experienced cheering/applause in theaters more times than I can count or remember in LA, but never once in my hometown in Texas.
I might call Katy "big city" but no way would I classify Lake jackson that way, where I saw cheering for tge original Red Dawn

Austin Drafthouse showings get some reactions.

So if Marvel announced they were re-releasing all 21 of the infinity saga films (excluding the two spidey films), how many would you pay watch in the theater?

I think I'm at 9
Honestly none of them. I'm interested in seeing well done audio visual films in the theater. None of the marvel films have especially good audio visual productions. I've never felt about a Marvel film the way I feel about something like Interstellar, Dunkirk, Dune, Skyfall, or Mission Impossible after leaving a theater.

On the other hand, what's a Marvel movie with a good score and cinematography?

I'll wait.

you mean like Nolan's bad audio mixing?
I hear complaints about this every time and out of the 20+ times I've seen a Nolan film in theaters I've never had issues with it. I think people just go to theaters were the audio isn't well calibrated, honestly.

too widespread of an issue to be "bad theaters". and critics even commented on it at some showings and they were being shown the films in selected theaters.
Why? Pretty sure there are tons of theaters out there that aren't properly set up.

I believe it was Tenet that was a disaster on this front. Added to the confusion of an already complex movie.

Really interesting article. Thanks.

I enjoyed the out of nowhere shot at Applebees.

Quote:

Exhibitors are constantly finding new ways to make the experience worse from noisy, sub-Applebee's dine-in service to AMC's recently announced plan to charge more depending on where you sit.

Meanwhile, Applebee's has basically out Willy Wonka'ed everyone.

Quote:

A dinner date at Applebee's is one of the hottest tickets in American dining, thanks to escalating food prices. A $200 Date Night Pass subscription worth $1,500 in weekly meals at Applebee's sold out in less than a minute earlier this year,

In January the chain announced an inaugural run of date-night passes: gold cards that cover up to $30 of food and nonalcoholic beverages across 52 weekly Applebee's visits through early next year.
Quote:

After hearing about the Applebee's passes, Brooks set an alarm and began clicking just as they went on sale. The couple was bowled over when Brooks clinched one.

"Oh my word!' she recalls thinking. "That's unbelievable…we were really excited."

They took photos holding up the gold pass when it arrived in the mail a few days later.

Black Panther got Oscar noms for best original score, best sound editing, best sound mixing, and best original song, and won best score, along with best costume design and best production design.

The soundtrack got seven Grammy nominations and won 2 , including Best Score and Best Rap perofrmance.

Seems marginally successful.

I'll give you score, that's probably the only somewhat memorable score in all of the MCU.

(Endgame has the great track in the Portals scene, and that's about it.)

Cinematography is a no from me dog. That is by far the biggest weakness in that entire franchise. It's always just serviceable at best, and awful at worst. The first Avengers looks like a soap opera.

The movie itself has issues, but Eternals was a beautifully shot film.
