So is the main Wolverine the one from the X-Men movies or from Logan or a different one altogether?

The Logan from "our" X-Men movies is still dead. That's a different universe/timeline. This one is from a timeline we haven't yet seen.

The fact that it's even surprising you is a big tell…

Wonder what changed??

I thought we learned recently that Logan (from Logan) isn't the same timeline as the Logan from the first three X-Men movies.

Apologies for the derail, staff, feel free to delete my personal comment above.

Still looking forward to the movie though.

If that's been acknowledged officially, I must have missed it.

Otherwise, it's always been my understanding that Logan (the movie) was somewhat of a gray area, in that the Logan from that movie was essentially meant to be the Logan we've always known. Only that all the movies prior were basically considered exaggerations of sorts. There's a scene from Logan where X-23 (the little girl) is reading actual X-Men comics and Logan says to Xavier, "Looks like we've got ourselves an X-Men fan." He then tells her, "Maybe a quarter of it happened. And not like this. In the real world people die." And I feel like I remember the filmmakers saying at the time that was meant to acknowledge his cinematic past, but in a way that made it so the previous movies could be looked at as more "comic book" like, which, in contrast, would better-ground the world of Logan, without saying it's a full-on alternate universe/timeline.

That said, that was obviously before the multiverse was introduced, and maybe now they're just retconning it and saying that was, indeed, a completely different universe/timeline.

news to me I was always under the impression it was the same Logan throughout especially since he still has his adimantium claws and not the bone claws….

This Logan from DP3 is a Logan we've never seen

Idk. I'd read an article or two recently that said the DP3 folks were adjusting how Logan was tied into the first X-men films. Re-reading one of them now, they might be speculating?

To me, the connection had been tenuous at best and sort of cheapened both takes on the character. It's not super important either way.

Feels like I'll need to frame by frame this entire movie at home to see it all.

Wasn't this already speculated last year when Ryan Reynolds, Hugh Jackman, and the director of DP3 were all hanging out within Taylor Swift's luxury booth during a Chiefs game?

Some breakdown stills/gifs from IO9

Logan at the bar, strikingly similar to his early stuff in X-Men

Logan in the wasteland with the 20th century fox logo as well as Toronto's CN Tower.

No notes, just fantastic reality.

Says she's walking out of Master Mold, which is interesting since X-Men '97 is also deadling with that plot right now.

IO9 says it can see Azazel from First Class and Lady Deathstrike from X2 in this shot.

Dogpool

Well that's a portal opened with a Sling Ring. But who? Wong? Strange? Ned?

Supposedly in the shot of Cassandra Nova walking out of the helmet, you can see a wheelchair behind her

Weirdly enough the only movie I have seen with Hugh Jackman's Wolverine is "X-Men Origins Wolverine". Huge MCU fan but never got in to the Fox X-Men movies. I plan on watching "Logan" before this comes out but should I watch all of the other X-Men movies? Do you think being familiar with those will just be for noticeable easter eggs or do you think I will need to know those for major plot points?

You should watch everything with a Marvel character in it, just in case. Especially anything from the tv shows. [/Disney execs]

X1 and X2 should be required viewing. X2 is one of the best superhero movies ever and has 3-4 sensational action pieces, including one with Logan going bezerker mode to repulse an invasion at the Mansion.

Days of Future Past is really good. As is its predecessor, First Class. Jackman is hardly in that one, though.

The origins movie is one of the worst X-men movies.

You are right. First Class was fantastic, love Fassender's rageful Magneto.

First Class is tops, due to Fassbender. Him killing Nazis was so much fun.

That movie is what got me on the "Fassbender for Bond" train.

IMO, Dark Phoenix is actually a pretty fun movie. Don't get me wrong, it doesn't belong in the top 5 by any means, but there's nothing really egregious about it either. And the score by Hans Zimmer was a nice little surprise, much better than expected.

I would put that movie above X3, Apocalypse, and Origins, at the very least.

In an otherwise forgettable movie (excluding Quicksilver), his scene at the beginning of Apocalypse is heart wrenching, excellent stuff. Fassbender is great.

I am pretty sure this isn't Master Mold. It is the skull of Giant Man/Scott Lang, or another Ant-Man/Giant Man variant.

It's Giant Man's entire skeleton/suit. Otherwise known as Pym Falls.
