I kinda wish they'd stuck to the version of Moon Knight that's "Batman, but maybe also a little insane." The Egyptian stuff was unique but his powers are vague and halfway through the show it got a bit generic and adventure-y like it was the Mummy or something.

I'm not familiar with the character other than I knew he was a bit insane going into it. Yes, that would have been a better show I think.

I had the same feelings you did while watching it. It kind of felt like a superhero show mixed with an Indiana Jones or Mummy feel to it.

Seeing reports coming out where Doomsday is going to have multiple Dooms, and even one female Doom. So they literally just swapped Doom in for council of Kangs by the sounds of things, and it's Disney so have to woke it up too while they are at it.

I'm so ready for the multiverse to be done with. I actually think Doomsday and Secret Wars could end up being pretty good, but come 2028 it's time to get back one universe, one iteration per character, etc.

Btw, the first teaser trailer for Doomsday is set to debut with Avatar: Fire and Ash next month.

Was Deadpool and Wolverine woke for the multiple Deadpools, including a female one? This will likely be no different than that.

Exactly. It will likely be nothing more than a thirty-second cameo anyways. I can't stand the multiverse, but crying "woke" because a variant or two will be female is pretty dumb.

Btw, mentioned in a Variety article with Michael Gianchino is that his next project is a follow-up to Werewolf by Night.

Good lord, they're not "woking it up". Having a female in some odd universe makes sense.

WBN has become a Halloween tradition for me after the kid is done trick or treating and passed out. It's so great. Would love to see this side of the universe expanded in sensible ways.

I noticed this last weekend that you can watch this in color now. Not sure that I want to as black and white was part of its charm.

On the multiple Dooms, dear god make it stop. I won't call it woke; I'll just call it multiverse fatigue. If they really are just borrowing some other their Kang ideas and putting them here then this is disappointing because I don't want anything like that. It's completely enough for us to pretend or use the storyline that Doom is just evil Iron Man. That's actually intriguing, but multiple Dooms causing all of that multiverse confusion bull***** No thanks.
Claude!

If they have multiple Dooms and most of them aren't killed by Doom, they're doing it wrong. Doom does not suffer imitators.

During a recent interview with Entertainment Tonight, Kelsey Grammer revealed his Beast shares a scene with Chris Hemsworth's Thor and Pedro Pascal's Mr. Fantastic, as well as "sort of shares a scene" with Robert Downey, Jr.'s Doctor Doom.

Honestly, the whole MCU has run its course.

the reported budget of approximately 200 million for D&W was apparently WAAAAAAAAAAAY underplayed by disney....

https://www.forbes.com/sites/carolinereid/2025/11/27/deadpool--wolverine-cost-half-a-billion-dollars-but-did-it-make-a-profit/

apparently before UK tax breaks disney spent $533.7 million on this thing! holy balls!

now after tax breaks that changes to approximately $429 million....so if you were to factor that number down to a 50/50 split at the worldwide box office that's still a net profit of approximately $241 million....but that's also before taking into account money spent on marketing...

we don't know those numbers but it's safe to assume a bare minimum of 100 million was spent and like at least around 150 million or more a lot more reasonable for a movie like this....

so dang....it still made a profit but no where near what was initially thought....

they seem to keep doing stuff like this at what point does a publicly traded company who constantly miss reports budgets start to get in trouble for this sort of stuff?

Right? Don't get me wrong it was a really fun movie. It looked good and the cameos were a lot of fun.

But there's no way the cast carried that high a budget and the effects didn't call for anything like what we've seen in infinity war, endgame, or even multuverse of madness which all had really high budgets….

Inflation? Costs have gone up everywhere else so I'm guessing everything around making a movie is no different.

End Game had a budget of $356 million. That's roughly $450 million today with inflation. The spend here was $530 million. End Game arguably had more SFX and a larger A-list cast to justify the cost. I just don't see where they could've spent as much as End Game and then a whole lot more even adjusting for inflation.

Maybe Ryan Reynolds negotiated for all of the alternate Deadpool's to get his same salary.

Some of the cost probably was due to having to completely shut down production during the strike and then start it back up.
Also with that tax credit thing, they probably spent a **** ton of money knowing about the write off.

Gen of Deek also makes the point that these movies also sell:

Merchandise, licensing, brand collaborations and home media sales

Which might be just as much as the $1.33 bn box for all we know.

I don't think the ancillary revenues are all that much. Probably mid 8 figures. Licensing fee for toys and other products is probably around 10%, so they'd need a billion in licensed product revenue to hit $100 million from licensing fees.

Looking at digital revenues, it looks like it made $15-$20 million. Really good, but also a drop in the bucket vs box office.

What's your basis for all of these numbers? Source?

It would be. Avatar comes out just a week later. So online on Thursday the 11th and in theaters on Thursday the 18th. Marvel trailers almost always come out a week or more before they debut in theaters.
TCTTS

Yes, they both will. The Avengers: Doomsday trailer will be online likely next week and then The Odyssey trailer will be online either the week of Avatar's release or the week after.

Same. I have no interest in the new Avatar. I predict it will be a huge money loser.

The last one, besides all the beautiful colors and creatures and parts of the world we had not seen, was just a boring story. And they underutilized Zoe Saldana's character.

I'm still amazed at Cameron's commitment to Avatar. Aren't there two more movies after this latest one?

it'll do less than the previous 2….but it would be a huge shock if it lost money….

Course the way things are going we won't know the true budget for this thing until 2027….see Deadpool and Wolverine for the most recent blunder there….
