Related with the HBO/DC ties, HBO is removing "old" content like Westworld to avoid paying residuals to actors.

One of the more respectful and professional social media responses I've seen in situations like this. Very well done by her.

WW2 still sucked though. Hopefully RS still happens and she can home run that.

WW2 was pretty bad, but it did star Gal Gadot so there's that.

Thank goodness

Maybe it was just testing leaks

That's a great Game of Thrones move by Gunn. Tell one executive you hate Cavill and another you want to incorporate The Batman to see who is leaking.

I agree World War II was horrible but I missed Gal Gadot at Normandy.

**** that noise. DC doesn't get another red cent from me. Way to screw a great actor and a total team player during the company's massive **** show of the last decade.

I don't understand why The Batman can coexist with whatever their new plan is, but not Man of Steel.

I understand they want a clean break, but hell, you have The Flash coming out where you can easily branch off into multiple timelines! It's like a built in excuse to do whatever the hell you want.

Just sucks the way WB has treated Cavill.

Cavill was plucked from obscurity and got three movies as Superman, which led to one hell of a career so far, including a villain in the best Mission: Impossible movie to date. That dude will be acting for decades to come, owes his fame to DC, and is now, with Superman out of the way, probably the favorite to play Bond in the reboot. He was great as the Man of Steel, and sure, it would have been nice to see him get another solo outing, but he will be more than fine, and can wipe away any tears he might have with the millions he has in the bank, and a super model to console him.

Because MoS is part of the DCEU, and the DCEU is so toxic that anything and everything associated with it needs to be burned to the ground after 2023. This was the ruthless decision that absolutely needed to be made, and I'm so incredibly glad Gunn and Safran had the balls to make it. DC finally has a chance to be truly great, with a coherent, multi-year plan from the jump, and phenomenal storytellers at the helm. Isn't this exactly what we wanted for Star Wars? Now we're getting it for DC, and personally, I could not be more excited.

But weren't you always saying how much you wanted them to get rid of the shared universe concept and let each character inhabit their own worlds?

Really sucks about Cavill, but it needed to be done if starting fresh.

Wonder what this means for Blue Beetle, Aquaman 2, and Peacemaker season 2.

This is what I don't really understand. The Suicide Squad / Peacemaker is Gunn's thing and very clearly exists in the DCEU.

Are they getting rid of all that too?

I couldn't care less about comic book movies. Have not seen more than 5 or 6 of the entire Marvel franchise.

When i saw the tweets that Gunn was writing a new Superman + it seems they're doing a full DC reset, I immediately wast interested in at least following the progress. And it has nothing to do with Cavill (only saw 1 superman he was in) and everything to do with new blood and a new vision.

It'll likely be a movie I end up going to see in a theater. So take that for what you will from the a non comic fanboy.

Man of Steel is the best thing DC has done since The Dark Knight.

They tell him he's back, oh wait never mind, but they're still carrying Ezra MIller's toxic corpse to the finish line.

Kudos to the Rock for heavy-handing them into the Superman cameo in Black Adam.

Also currently no in universe movies announced yet for 2024. I hope the new slate doesn't wait until 2025.

If they're purging the whole thing, Momoa needs to find a bald cap and start working out to be Kratos in the God of War Amazon thing.

That was before Gunn, one of my favorite filmmakers, was, against all odds, made creative head of DC, and WB finally came to their senses to completely dismantle the DCEU and start fresh. Also, it's the best of both worlds, as it sounds like there are mandates to keep Reeves' Batman, Abrams'/Coates' Superman, and Phillips' Joker completely separate.

To be clear, Cavill jumped the gun with his Instagram announcement. That wasn't at the mandate of the head of WB or DC. Also, it's infinitely easier to cancel a movie that doesn't yet exist (a new Superman movie) vs cancelling an already-shot $150M+ summer blockbuster (The Flash).
Brian Earl Spilner

This is exactly my issue. Cavill could've continued in his own separate storyline, easily explained as an alternate timeline split off from Flashpoint. I think Cavill was probably the one thing most people agreed on as being good in the DCEU. Maybe along with Gadot as WW.

Oh well. I admit I'm pretty bitter about this as I've been clamoring for it for years along with Porkchop, then they dangle it in front of us and immediately take it away.

I understand you're on point with all of the business and logistics arguments, but the simple fact of the matter for me as a huge fan of Superman is that they had an incredible actor who was perfect in the role, then made him a bizarre version of himself in Batman vs. Superman, then put him in arguably the worst superhero movie of the last couple of decades, then sidelined him completely.

Henry Cavill as Superman is as natural a fit for me as Chris Evans as Cap or RDJ as Stark. Him losing the role because of systemic incompetence by DC is a slap in the face of the character's fandom.
