This is getting hard to keep up with DC, so can someone answer these questions...
So The Rock played hardball behind the scenes, and pushed to get Cavill back as Superman and as the big teaser for Black Adam
Yes, despite old DC wanting Cavill back for a different tease
This was obviously to set up a future with Black Adam facing Superman, and then most likely teaming up... so safe to say several more movies was what the Rock (and Cavill) were intending
Yes. They have the same agent and have long talked about meeting up on screen. There's an instagram post with them sharing tequila over it.
While this is happening, DC is in flux, bring in Gunn and Safran... and then they decide to reboot everything and start from scratch... so no more Cavill. (also this is the right decision, even though most everyone likes Cavill)
Yes, and will be interesting to see what happens with TSS and Peacemaker since Gunn made those
So safe to assume, the Rock is pissed... but also Black Adam sucked and underperformed (which kind of seems to be the Rock's M.O. lately)... so are we done with Black Adam? And The Rock turns down a teaser in Shazam 2 out of spite? Is he done with the role?
Definitely done with the role and DC. In my opinion it seems like he tried to strong arm DC/WB into doing what he wanted, and Gunn/Safran didn't want the same thing
I did enjoy Black Adam, but at the end I just wanted more Superman, not more Black Adam.

Great analysis. I would only add that the reason for all this confusion in the first place (besides DC's usual ineptitude) was that Discovery was taking over Warner Bros, the head of DC stepped down (who really wasn't much of a leader/visionary to begin with), and various producers were left attempting to man the ship, all while
Black Adam was being made/released. So it was basically the perfect storm of disorganization and craziness that allowed any of this to happen. That said, as much as I'm starting to dislike David Zaslav (the new head of Warner Bros Discovery), to his credit, it was his mandate that WB finally get their sh*t together when it comes DC, it just took him a few months to get around to finally hiring new leadership, in the form of Gunn and Safran, considering everything else he's been tasked with during the merger/takeover. So yeah, there was an extended, rudderless period, in addition to all the headaches Covid caused, that led to this whole fiasco, but now hopefully the ship is being righted (or, rather, a better analogy is that the old ship is being completely dismantled, while a brand new one is being built).
