Agree, after the Home Alone montage I found myself fast forwarding the show which is the first time I have done so in all of the seasons.

My only beef was that there was a disturbing lack of Joe Pesci
Harry & Marv being the 2 guys trying to get into the bar would have made it perfect.
Really? I feel like this season just started. Damn.expresswrittenconsent said:
I thought the 2nd half of the super bowl episode was pretty great. Season finale next week.

Yep, the episodes without Dennis were not good.Bobcat06 said:
I haven't watched AP Bio. I just assume network TV sucks unless I hear otherwise, and I hadn't heard anything about it other than Glenn Howerton was in it.
This season proved how critical having a Dennis character is to the dynamic. Every character has their own level of psychosis with Dennis playing the straight man foil... until he goes off the deep end. Having Dennis as a somewhat sane viewpoint is necessary to contrast their collective weirdness.
The episodes this season with Dennis in them were excellent. The episodes where they were working around scheduling conflicts left a lot to be desired.
Excellent points regarding DennisBobcat06 said:

It's really interesting how IASIP uses Dennis.PatAg said:Excellent points regarding DennisBobcat06 said:

If so....way less of this and more of "The Gang Solves the Gas Crisis" or "The Gang gets Invincible."Texaggie7nine said:
I dont know. I feel like this is something they felt they owed to the Mac character. His gayness has always been a punchline. Well, more so his denial of it. But I get the feeling that they wanted to make a statement about how they feel about the plight of a gay man in this country. Not about some SJW nonsense of oppression but like the emotional alienation they go through growing up in most families. Kind of like a, "yeah we have fun with it but we aren't saying being gay is comical".
That or they just really wanted to show their creative chops.
Either or, it was pretty cool. The last show in the world that I would have guessed could tug at my heart strings so much.

McElhenney, going behind the scenes with Vulture, explained that the support the show received from the LGBTQ community after last season's finale pushed him to think bigger about how to deal with Mac's sexuality moving forward.
"We got a really overwhelming emotional response from the LGBTQ community last year," McElhenney said. "I took it seriously and I felt it would be completely unexpected to have this much more emotionally resonant end to the season."

Looks like I was right. I have to say, I'm not mad. One of the most emotionally charged things I've seen on a cable TV show in a long ass time.
I'd encourage you to watch it again without any expectation of comedy from the moment mac tells his dad.
