i hope this movie will be different from all the other revenge style movies we've been inundated with a la John Wick, Equalizer, Atomic Blond, etc.

Liev Schreiber and Dafoe were both good Clarks. I would think Gerard Butler would make a good Clark. Or even Jeremy Renner.

Those are horrible choices. And you should be ashamed

Who you got, homie?
Oddly enough I think Krasinsky would have been perfect.91_Aggie said:queso1 said:91_Aggie said:queso1 said:

Probably not anyone right now that would my expectation. Gerard Butler is not a good actor. And Renner doesnt have the size/build. I hated Defoe as him CaPD.
Its probably like the definition of obscenity "I'll know it when I see it"

I don't have a problem with a black guy playing Ryan. I know that he's Irish-American, but his race isn't really central to any of the stories.
He isn't playing Jack Ryan. He is playing John Clark. If I recall, Ryan wasn't even in without remorse, right? Or at least it was limited.
No idea, but IMO Ford was too old as per the description of the character in those books. And Patriot Games was hot garbage as a movie compared against the book; Clear and Present Danger was marginally better but still not in the same league as the book.azulAg said:
why didnt harrison ford make more jack ryan movies ? patriot games and clear and present danger were great imo

Spoiler - the movie makes a big deal of the female terrorist character. The female character appears on a couple of pages in the book, in other words no big deal except that Ryan identifies her via satellite because of her tits (which they did include the movie)azulAg said:

I still have no issue with the casting, but with all of these white actors curently bowing out of productions where they are portraying non-whites, shouldn't that apply to this production as well? Admittedly it has been many years since I read any of Clancy's novels, but I really don't recall the Clark character being black.Cinco Ranch Aggie said:

I wonder if Michael B Jordan will portray the character as a cocky guy with a chip on his shoulder?
If not, that'll be a first for him.
As an Irish-American, I'm still so truly and deeply offended by this casting. This is institutional racism and it should not be tolerated.Cinco Ranch Aggie said:I still have no issue with the casting, but with all of these white actors curently bowing out of productions where they are portraying non-whites, shouldn't that apply to this production as well?
