It's awesome how both sides are arguing completely different premises here. Well done, TexAgs.

Pretty sure I was maybe 10 or younger when I watched Slumber Party Massacre (half-dressed chicks at a slumber party get killed via electric drill) at a friend's house. Also saw The Exterminator and many other R rated movies at this kid's house during sleepovers. This kid's parents were the ones renting these VHS tapes for us and hell no I never told my parents about them.
And now you can only get it up by killing chicks with a drill?

My wife would be PISSED. I would act mad to support the wife, but I really wouldn't give a S#&*

Stopping kids from seeing R rated movies should stop around age 8.
I can tell you are not a parent.

I let my 10 year old watch The Rim of the World on Netflix and it was a lot more sex and language stuff than I was expecting. I can't even remember what it was but I got some questions from my 10 year old wanting to know what "???" meant and I did not feel like giving an answer.
Don't let your kid watch Alternatino on Comedy Central. Or even the promos for it.

Well, one way or another they get drilled.

Well, I'm a kid who was taken to good movies since I can remember.

Did the parent watch the movie with the kids or was it a "drop the kids off at the movies" and get them later situation?

Per him it was the parents that wanted to see it (and went with them).

I get what you're saying, and agree most kids can handle R rated movies earlier than when they're deemed "able to" by society. But when its not your kid you owe the parents a courtesy check, plain and simple.

That's the real issue. Your kids = your call, no one else's.

Start taking them to PG-13 movies at age 4

It always baffles me that PG-13 is taken at all seriously. That might as well be G as far as I'm concerned.
