I was surprised Dennis was so eager to try that again after he did so poorly in The Strangers. I guess Cricket doesn't even count as human any more though so at least Dennis started with a weaker target that time.

Except that the thread is *literally* about this very subject - not just the movie itself, but the perception of the movie, politically. That, and it's rare that any president tweets or talks about a movie before it comes out. Given all of that, I can think of nothing more appropriate than to inject his tweets into this thread. It's the rare case in which politics intersect perfectly with movies in a way that's actually relevant to the conversation at hand, and on the biggest stage, no less.
Well, the combination of Dennis, Betty Gilpin, Ike Barinholts, and playing Marshall Tucker Band in the trailer has me in on this. Looks like fun.

Just astronomically horrible timing for this movie. There was no way.......no way that a movie with this plot would see release this close to two mass shootings. Satire or not, this movie was doomed. There was no way this movie would get released because neither side of the political spectrum would dare stand up for a movie that depicts the hunting of human beings for sport after El Paso and Ohio and only a year before the election.
Maybe early next year we may see this film quietly released on Netflix or some other streaming service.
I'd still watch it, but I wouldn't have paid to see it in a theater even before the controversy.

I agree that releasing this movie after El Paso and Dayton would be in bad taste and I don't blame them for not releasing it....but....tctts' tweet shows why this whole thing is so worthy of ridicule.

This reminds me of Get Out with a bunch of conservatives screaming racism while the point of the movie and it's attack on liberal America went right over their heads.
The great thing here is that for the first time ever, Hollywood actually made the right decision to cancel a terrible movie.
