What I got from Friends was the chance to see Jennifer Aniston's protruding nipples.
I was a very casual viewer when it was live and didn't really pay much attention to Anniston until later in life when it was just amazing how well she has aged. She is legendary in that regard.

The NHO, bra-less-ness, and general boob play on Friends is epic. I guess I was just way too tied up chasing real ones at the time to notice what was going on.

Big Bang Theory. It always felt like a show written for the pseudo intelligent who think they're really clever.
Agree 100%. Big Bang Theory is what people think it's like to be a nerd, and the IT Crowd (far superior show) is what it's really like.

Trailer Park Boys.

And I know this won't go over well, but... The Wire.
CNN is an enemy of the state and should be treated as such.

And whenever you say "I don't think it's funny" the response is always "Well, it's because you don't understand the humor".
No, I do. I get the jokes the are trying to make. I get the references and everything. It's just not funny.

It took a while for me to get into it. Season 1 was not great, but it really took off in season 2 imo.

Veep is one that i don't get. On paper, it's a show that seems like i should really enjoy it, and i just don't...

I also don't get Letterkenny. Just because the dialog is quick and in a Canadian accent doesn't make it funny.

Any of the "reality competition" shows.

American Idol
The Voice
America's Got Talent
The Bachelor/Bachelorette
Big Brother
Survivor

How any of this crap has been popular for decades is mind-boggling to me. It's all sh*t.
We don't watch Idol anymore because the judges, esp. Katy Perry, are idiots, but some real undeniable talent came from that show....Kelly Clarkson, Carrie Underwood, Kat McPhee, Adam Lambert, Chris Daughtry. And while few of them have made it that big yet, The Voice also has some really talented folks on it as well.

And as was already stated, Survivor is great. Period.

Of the popular shows on this board I tried a few and they just didn't click for me:

Mad Men
Wire
Sopranos

Weird as I like almost every other show that is popular here.

The Sopranos. I've watched the first 2 or 3 episodes multiple times, but have never made it past that. I assume it gets good at some point, but I'm just not the biggest fan of the mob boss genre...I've never even made it all the way through any of the Godfather movies.

I like a good drama, but the need to have a gut-punch devastating situation and break down crying EVERY episode?!?!?!? I don't get it how this is so popular....

I thought it was pretty good when it had Colonel Blake and Trapper John. It really went downhill after they left the show.

Game of Thrones. (Sure I'll get killed here.)

I'm currently in season 4 and enjoy it enough to work my way through it. I appreciate it but don't fully get the extreme craziness over it.

Yeah, it didn't start out depressing, but when Alan Alda took it over and got all political, the laughs got fewer and farther between.

Chicks. That's how. I don't know a single heterosexual male who has watched this show for more than an episode that wasn't "forced" to by his wife.

Its deliberately emotionally manipulating. I've not watched it but I watched a bit of Parenthood and it was the same way. I assume the (primarily) female fanbase is fully aware they enjoy it because it is emotionally manipulating. There are plenty of equivalent "dude" versions of this. I'm never going to go camp in the jungle but I love the naked and afraid stuff. Or the afternoon sports or news arguing shows. I used to actively hate watch one on FS1. Or the tosh/rob dyrdek type nutshot/fart shoes.

The IT crowd is equally fake, imo.

Same here. I still watch the early years regularly. The Whiplash Wang episode was on this weekend. Classic.

My dad is still pissed at the writers for how they wrote out Henry.

We tried and abandoned:

*****t's Creek
Veep
Parks and Recreation
Grace and Frankie
The Wire
Atlanta
Big Little Lies
Broad City
Girls
Rome
Are You Being Served? (did not age well)

I stuck with Letterkenny, but the wife bailed after three episodes.
She also couldn't handle any more George from Seinfeld a few seasons in.

Same. The little I watched was utterly terrible. I mean BAD.

How I Met Your Mother is another one. So trite, lazy, and condescending. It's "Big Bang" level bad.

I just do not understand why they filmed HIMYM on a studio set that did not have a live audience.......but they would ADD the audience laugh track in post production. Why?????

It's that little thing that has kept me from ever wanting to watch that show. A fake live studio audience. WTF?
What? Huh? That's how laugh tracks work.

What? No.

Typical sitcoms film in front of a live audience. Now, the laughter is routinely manipulated in post production to be more boisterous, but a good deal of that laughter came from the audience. Some of it is fake, some real.

HIMYM is NOT filmed in front of a live audience and the laugh track is added to make it seem like it was. Which I find stupid.
