Same. The little I watched was utterly terrible. I mean BAD.

How I Met Your Mother is another one. So trite, lazy, and condescending. It's "Big Bang" level bad.

I just do not understand why they filmed HIMYM on a studio set that did not have a live audience.......but they would ADD the audience laugh track in post production. Why?????

It's that little thing that has kept me from ever wanting to watch that show. A fake live studio audience. WTF?
What? Huh? That's how laugh tracks work.

What? No.

Typical sitcoms film in front of a live audience. Now, the laughter is routinely manipulated in post production to be more boisterous, but a good deal of that laughter came from the audience. Some of it is fake, some real.

HIMYM is NOT filmed in front of a live audience and the laugh track is added to make it seem like it was. Which I find stupid.

Do you like Seinfeld? Large portions of the show was total laugh track.

*****ts creek is funny, I am not sure what you are wanting if you don't find it funny.

Seinfeld is great too. So many bits that became common vernacular in pop culture, even today.

Never cared for friends. The humor was more juvenile.

How I met your mother has a lot of clever bits. Especially in the first 3-4 seasons. Every week was a new bit. After that it felt more repetitive and less original.

I don't laugh at Seinfeld or *****ts Creek. Neither is funny.

However, Friends I can down right cry I'm laughing so hard.

Any of the "reality competition" shows.

American Idol
The Voice
America's Got Talent
The Bachelor/Bachelorette
Big Brother
Survivor

How any of this crap has been popular for decades is mind-boggling to me. It's all sh*t.

What amazes me is that every few months I see ANOTHER Survivor thread where real, actual, college-educated people eat that tripe up like it is the best entertainment in the history of the world.

Dumbfounding.

Mad Men. I've tried twice and gave up during the first season both times. Firefly is another. It's a decent little sci-fi show, but I don't understand why it's considered great.
You hush now! I like Mad Men, but I can definitely see how most of the population could care less. I love historical and period series from before I was born. I absolutely love all the British period series the BBC puts out.

Firefly is a space cowboy series. It honestly was ahead if it's time, and it was cancelled. You are correct that today it is nothing special, remember this was 2002. Nathan Fillion is also young and nice to look at in the series.

I really don't like a lot what I would consider modern comedies, at least American ones. Anything from mid 1990's forward. I know a lot of my list is blasphemous.

I just never connected with the shows.

Sienfield
Friends
Big Bang Theory
Office (US & UK)
How I Met Your Mother
Fraiser
Will & Grace
Parks & Recreation
Scrubs
Family Guy

If you like game shows where there is a cash or physical prize for the winner I can understand liking many of the reality competition shows. I don't watch them, but I understand.

The creepy one to me are the romance shows like Bachelor/Bachelorette. I can't imagine going though a game show to attract a mate.

The Office, I grew up with that type of humor and no one found it funny, but I get to college and everyone and their dog followed that show. I guess I grew out of it and because that show just makes me cringe now.

Agree 100%. Big Bang Theory is what people think it's like to be a nerd, and the IT Crowd (far superior show) is what it's really like.
Ha! Gatekeeping on nerddom.

IT Crowd was exactly the same except they had British accents, which makes the "nerd gatekeepers" think it was so much better.

Survivor is a pretty cool study of human nature, deceipt, game theory, etc. I get not liking it, but I don't know why someone would be so annoyed by others liking it.

For me it comes from a perspective of not being super social. In my older age, I can appreciate that many people are built that way and probably were nurtured that way as well as our entire evolution into a civilized species depended on it.

But I used to despise shows like those because I just could not find anything more annoying than people caring so much about gossip, what "Becky said about Monica", when "Chad is going to finally ask out Stephanie", ect.

I hated Real World, Big Brother, Survivor and any show that made entertainment out of social cliques and found anyone that liked them to be superficial and low intelligence.

Now I just accept that it's no different than me liking sports, video games, ect.

Consider me STUNNED!

Big Bang Theory is like watching Nerdface comedy.
Reality shows ... unless they have some compelling historical element. i.e. Churchill's Spies
Talent shows ... though I do enjoy "blow me away" clips from them
We typically avoid Cop/Crime TV shows (60% of shows) unless the setting is interesting.
Tarantino movies.
Shows where you are cheering for the bad guys.

The greatness of survivor isn't in the challenges or the locale, it is a fascinating look at human psychology was watching people struggle to get around their built in we weaknesses and flaws _ some are sheep, some are self centered *******s and some are master manipulators who drive the narrative. Plus Jeff probst is hilarious in his ability to mock weak efforts in challenges

I just finished The Wire. I ride the train to work so I have that time to watch shows.

The plot is kind of repetitive. I would give it 3.5 out of 5 stars.

What I found most entertaining was the fascinating and sad revelation of the corruption, from top to bottom, in cities with a large ghetto population. The disregard for life. And the utter lack of family structure in the black community is totally visible--but people are too speak this truth.

I haven't watched the show since the end of the second season. If it's not scripted, then kudos to them for accomplishing that.

I just find it hard to believe that it's even 60% authentic.

So that's a "no"?
You've had your 4 posts letting us all know how your poor brain cant fathom how anyone else could watch reality television, despite a thriving 25yr history and despite after each of your multiple trollbait posts someone gave an actual well reasoned answer.
You respond to well thought out responses with condescending fake compliments "kudos" and respond to condescension with name calling.
Go troll elsewhere.

Are You Being Served? (did not age well)

I stuck with Letterkenny, but the wife bailed after three episodes.
She also couldn't handle any more George from Seinfeld a few seasons in.

Bro... What DO you watch...??

I think you're right about most reality shows. But everything I've ever heard about Survivor is that Probst and the other creators take it pretty seriously.

One difference was that IT Crowd was funny. Episodes such as The Haunting of Bill Crouse, the dinner party, the smokers expulsion and the internet box were clever and very funny.
