After watching 10 Cloverfield Lane, I can only seen Goodman as "maximum menacing". And this show did nothing to get me away from that. Incredible actor but just a terrifying presence when he plays it right.

Like in Raising Arizona? He's a more believable bad guy than good guy but Rosanne (sp) portrayed him as the dad next door.

Just finished the season tonight. Fantastic season. It wrapped up so strong. I will continue to look forward to anything Danny McBride does on HBO. His productions keep getting better and better.

Walter Cloggin' Goggins is my new hero. Also, I think it's funny that nettles voice played as a cheesy southern preachers sounds much better and less fake here than how she sounds in sugar land.

The Gemstones opened up pretty aggressively - much like Vice Principals. But after it settles in for a few episodes, it really starts to hit its comedic stride.

I personally think each episode got progressively better. And I REALLY liked 'Interlude' - I think it was a great change of pace. And you saw some really good performance from Goodman and Goggins. And who knew Nettles could act?!

I told TNJ that that last episode was probably the funniest hour of TV I've seen in a while. The Judy/Outback/Denim scenes were hilarious. I think I'm also a card carrying fangirl of Walter Goggins. Dude can act, and he's hysterical.

Semi related as we wait for the next season.
But for those that have never heard Nettles range, she was on a Capitol Fourth tonight and did this one from Oklahoma.
When you watch this, you have to guess that she could do a song like the one in that episode in her sleep and without even trying. And you see how hard Goggins has to work in it, really amazing voice.

I just came across this show recently on a recommendation from a friend. I just got done binging S1 and wow...What a great show! Just fantastic in every aspect.

Watching it I went back and forth on who my favorite character was and I never could pin it down. They're all great from Jesse to Judy to Kelvin and Baby Billy, Keef, and even BJ.

Everything about this show was awesome! Can't wait for S2.

Wow. Didn't know there was a thread on this show. Finished it a while back. Initially became interested because of John Goodman and Adam Devine. Certainly wasn't what I expected, but man was it entertaining. Nice dark line between comedy, drama, and uncomfortable.

I know they're currently filming the new season in South Carolina. Looking forward to where they take it.

I'm familiar with McBride's work and have even see The Foot Fist Way. Eastbound is on my To Watch list at some point. I've been told to watch Vice Principals. I've just got to limit my intake of him...he's a lot.

Eastbound and Down should go to the top of your queue. It's absolutely amazing. One of my favorites.

While I thought Gemstones was a bit over the top and pushed the envelope I also thought it was actually a pretty good plot line, really good acting and writing, and overall a very well done show.

Eastbound and Down doesn't have all that.

Its really good but in a very slap sticky way moreso than Gemstones.

Just rewatched Vice Principals. I need to watch Eastbound and Down soon.

Might be an unpopular opinion, but VP is better than Gemstones. Gemstones is pretty amazing and hilarious, but it is too over the top and tries way too hard. The Eli storyline from Season 2 was better than the main storyline with the rival church couple. John Goodman carried the show and covered for a lot of the ridiculous shock comedy Danny McBride keeps reusing.

Hoping this season will be better than the last because the same old formula is getting tiresome.
