This show is better than The Office in every way.

Just when I thought the city planner from the first two seasons was the worst, they brought in Craig. I hated that guy.

I'm most interested to see how they explain Ron joining a Zoom session. I'm sure they'll come up with something good.

"I am currently at an undisclosed location. After concluding this conversation, I will be taking this device and sinking it in the bottom of a lake...in a canoe that I have handcrafted myself...so the government will be unable to track me. I am surviving on a 6-month supply of bacon, eggs, steak, and scotch..."

It can still be a great show without being as good as the office because it's obviously not.

I'm a big fan of the Chris Pratt story. Seems like a normal dude having fun with life, and sort of stumbled into being a big star on a combination of charisma, raw talent, and being a nice guy. Pretty ironic that they passed on Chris Pratt for Avatar because he supposedly lacked "the It factor".

The Office is more iconic, but I think Parks & Rec is the better all around show. The Office loses major points for getting really, really bad toward the end. Yes, it took a season or so for Parks & Rec to find its footing, but IMO, it's more endearing, has the more lovable cast, and ended way stronger.

I disagree. The office's last seasons weren't as good as its prime but they were stiff funny and entertaining. You could argue Parks last season was pretty pointless too. Still had its moments but wasn't nearly as good.

It's a little bit hard for me to weigh in on P&R vs The Office. For as many hilarious moments as The Office has... there are a TON of episodes that I really dislike, so I assume that it's just not my show.

The stuff between Pam and the cameraman was cringeworthy/borderline unwatchable, IMO. I was never a fan of Robert California, didn't like "the new class" vibe, and there was just an overall desperation in trying to fill the giant void left by Michael. Yes, the final "future" season of Parks & Rec was a bit odd, but on a recent rewatch, it worked way better than I remembered, and ended on such a high note. That said, I absolutely love The Office, and if they had the balls to end it with Michael, I would have likely considered it the greatest sitcom of all time.

Both shows are all time greats. That said, I think I'd put The Office above Parks bc the highs are so much higher for The Office. Parks is awesome and you know you're getting a real strong episode almost every time (there are maybe 3 that I don't like), but none of its episodes approach the highs of Diversity Day, Christmas Party, The Injury, Dinner Party, or Niagara, to name a few.

I think it helps that I missed a lot of them episodes from season 6 or 7 onward, so I don't have bad memories from those crappy episodes.

Never knew that.

And now I will never be able to watch that tag for "Parks and Rec" or "Brooklyn 99" without seeing Nick Offerman again.

The Pawnees townees as a collective may be my favorite character.

I despise sitcoms. P and R is sooooo good it is one of my favorite tv shows. Revolving top three really.

Excuse me. There's a sign at Ramsett Park that says "Do Not Drink the Sprinkler Water", so I made sun tea with it and now I have an infection.

Sir? Sir, are-are-are you listening to me, sir?? Sir, I'm talking to you! Sir! Sir, are you aware that there is waste in your water system?

The storyline where Leslie was fighting for, and risking her love of Ben for, a piddly little city council seat was ridiculous.

The story should have been mayor, or state representative, at the minimum. The stakes would have made much more sense. To join the Jammer? Really?

This still bothers me. THINK BIG.

One of the great things about the show was how it showcased "Little America". Having a state auditor with a failed past of leadership trying for state seat would have been intangible in reality and jumping the shark a bit.

They way they handled it was perfect and kept the story bound within their tiny little world which is the whole appeal of the show to so many. Anything more would have been less IMO.

I cant believe someone who is so plugged in to hollywood could miss the point that badly.

Yeah, you've got to understand the character and the setting. Assigning galactic importance to every little thing (especially in local government) is a huge part of who Leslie is and why her character is funny. And it's why Ron can be an effective foil, because he assigns NO importance to ANY government, and yet is still her boss.

Not everything has to be Infinity War (or The West Wing). With a smaller setting you can do things like the town halls and quirky Pawnee life that would be a lot harder if the main character spends most of her time in Indianapolis or Washington DC. There are already plenty of high stakes political shows, it's fine for this comedy sitcom to have a different setting from all of those.

I think those starting should skip straight to season 2 and go back to 1 afterwards. They didn't know what to do with Andy or Leslie in season 1. Season 2 on is genius
