Hard disagree. Season 1 is brilliant to watch an ensemble cast come together and build chemistry as the season goes on. Watch season 1 and grow with them.

I'm listening to a book about The Office. I learned that numerous folks originally wanted P&R to be a spin-off of The Office. One of the scenarios was for Leslie K. to make an appearance on the Office and Andy and her fall in love and get married. But when Rashida Jones was cast as a completely different character that made it impossible for it to be a spin-off.

I didn't really love the fact that everyone on Parks became uber successful.
Karen Filipelli / Ann Perkins being the same person could still work. She gets really into her relationships in both shows (needy in the Office, doesn't even know Chris breaks up with her/dyes her hair a little after the break-up in P&R). With the way that Pawnee is portrayed, I can see their hospital being duped into accepting "Ann" as a nurse, even when she isn't.Quinn said:
I had heard that they considered doing it as a spin off to where the printer from the Dunder Miflin office ends up in the Pawnee Parks Dept office and that would be how the crossover started.
Did they ever explain who those people were who recruited Leslie to run for office and what their motivation was?Eliminatus said:One of the great things about the show was how it showcased "Little America". Having a state auditor with a failed past of leadership trying for state seat would have been intangible in reality and jumping the shark a bit.Redstone said:
The storyline where Leslie was fighting for, and risking her love of Ben for, a piddly little city council seat was ridiculous.
The story should have been mayor, or state representative, at the minimum. The stakes would have made much more sense. To join the Jammer? Really?
This still bothers me. THINK BIG.
They way they handled it was perfect and kept the story bound within their tiny little world which is the whole appeal of the show to so many. Anything more would have been less IMO.

I think I like P&R more because the show is more uplifting.Quote:
I started P&R and have not been able to stop. I really like P&R so much more. I don't know why.

There are seven seasons. Between now and then, there are seven days.
Season 2 picks up steam when you get to meet Ron Swanson's ex-wife. That is all I'm going to say about that. From Season 3 to Season 6, it's some of the best television out there once they make a few major changes to the cast.Cromagnum said:TCTTS said:

Wife and I tried it and gave up partway through season 1. It was pretty painful to watch. Some have said "well, yeah....season 1 sucks". Any validity to this?

If you are a fan of the Office, then this show really would be on near equal ground, depending on opinions.
Agree. I still watch Season 1 on a rewatch sometimes, but mostly focus on 2-7.TCTTS said:Carlo4 said:Season 2 picks up steam when you get to meet Ron Swanson's ex-wife. This. I know some feel differently, but don't even bother with season one. Season two is when it find its footing, and then by season three, with the additions of Rob Lowe and Adam Scott, the show reaches its true form, and becomes one of the best sitcoms of all time, from then on out.
