Opening debate skit was good, they kept it fairly balanced. Still think Woody Harrelson has the best Biden impression.
She tries to be so cool that she listened to Snoop and 2Pac years before they were even created.AustinAg2K said:TXAG 05 said:

I'm pretty much a Trump hater, but I'm not sure how you can say that was fairly balanced when they had Biden pause Trump and go on a two minute rant uninterrupted.
Overall, I thought the debate skit was below par, but the original debate was so crazy, it's hard to top. For me, I didn't think Carey's interpretation was great. Repeatedly saying, "Look, here's the deal..." Was funny and taking it the measuring tape was good, but I felt like there were too many "Jim Carry moments." Like coming out with sunglasses and shooting. I agree that Woody is the best Biden. He's really able to show his creepy side.
Also, I don't get Maya Rudolph's Kamala. I've never thought of Kamala Harris as trying to be cool, or hot.
Maybe it's because I don't really following politics closely anymore, and I missed some inside jokes, but I didn't really get this one. Like I said earlier, though, it'd be tough to be crazier than the real debate.

Didn't watch any of the primary debates? Pretty overt. I'm not blaming her. That was their tactic, I suppose.AustinAg2K said:TXAG 05 said:

it was a draft for which side piece they were going to be allowed to bring into the bubble. only wives and "girl friends" were allowed. it was a potentially funny concept that they did nothing with. The Milkman said:
I truly didn't understand the NBA bubble skit. Anyone else?
Chloe Fineman's impersonation of Barrymore was spot on.Squirrel Master said:
I thought Carrey's Biden was really funny, even though the sketch itself was meh.
The episode in general was horrible, but I laughed at the Drew Show sketch. That girl's different impersonations were great.
I agree about the energy. But Carrey's Biden lost his train of thought quite a few times. And they made fun of him trying to "look lucid". Plus he got hopelessly distracted by a laser pointer. He definitely wasn't sharp as a whip!John Francis Donaghy said:
Finally watched the first couple episodes. Not a fan of Carreys Biden at all. He has the smile down, I'll give him that. But why has he made Biden seem like he's bursting with energy? A characature is supposed to lean into real traits and exaggerate them. Biden is pushing 80. He loses his train of thought regularly. He literally made a campaign slogan out of the phrase "No Malarky". How are they not accentuating his doddering old guy tendencies? Carrey is portraying him like he's sharp as a whip, and bursting woth energy. It just doesn't make sense.

Thought Jack White was nails. Wonder what alot of people thought though, who've never really seen that much "liveness" and raw energy from a performer. Probably wondered where the choreography was .

That's interesting, I watched twice at much SNL in my teens and 20s as I do now. No idea just 40+ watches SNL.expresswrittenconsent said:Aust Ag said:

The SNL audience is old people who listen to Jack White. The idea that the audience was confused is hilarious.
I'm referencing the looseness, the spontaneity. The kind you see of someone that probably hasn't rehearsed that 3 song Ball and Biscuit mish-mash he did more than 2 or 3 times. It was thrilling to witness. And with a EVH hammer-on tribute to boot.expresswrittenconsent said:
Solid anecdotal response. It helps me understand how you formed the opinion in the first place.
Also. What does "liveness" mean when you use it? Because JWIII certainly wasn't more lively than the week 1 musical guest. I doubt he was more lively than the scrub country dip **** who got canceled would have been.

Something I realized this morning... where is Cecily Strong? She's still listed as part of the cast, but hasnt been in a skit all season has she?
