Even if you are 100% innocent, you should always have a lawyer. Talking to cops alone is just asking to screw yourself.

Yep. And that's made abundantly clear when the polygraph lady before doing the test starts jacking with him. "Only an idiot would come in here today if you actually did do something to them."

That guy is a piece of ****, but if you're truly innocent and willing to take a polygraph and someone does that to you right before one of the most nerve-wracking things you've ever done...geeze.

Always get a lawyer.

I wouldn't be surprised if it was just plugged into Tetris and it was all a charade to tell him he failed. As mentioned above, it's all one big manipulation tool.

What is Thrive? I assumed it was MLM right off the bat.

It is. Thrive and Plexus are the 2 worst. Health/energy/diet supplements and more. A bunch of crap.

I kept up with the story a lot when it went down and watched this the other day.

Being the father of 2 girls one 4 and one 8 months it was a really tough watch.

Absolutely gut wrenching to hear he rolled her up and drove her body to the job site while the girls were alive and I'm the back seat asking him about mommy.

Then he had the nerve to act stupid and get on national TV and plead for their safe return.

Sickening all around

I haven't watched it yet but I did see a dateline or 48 hours report on it earlier this year. It's really unfathomable the evil this man did. And I too think a divorce would've been much better. In the outward realms of hatred I can maybe understand spouses killing each other but I cannot understand anyone that could kill their own children.
I avoid temptation unless I can’t resist it.

I had to turn it off about 20 mins in because it was making me sick to my stomach. I've never done something like that. Well made, yadda yadda. Just too much. No desire to ever pick it back up, and I actually don't think anyone should watch it. Just ****ing gross and upsetting.

I watched it this week also. I followed the story but this documentary really makes it more real seeing the live footage. I agree with the previous posters that mentioned how eerie it was seeing him on the body cam footage the same day he killed his family. Total psycho. And the neighbor was spot on, that part was interesting. I can't believe anyone can do that to their own kids. Just ridiculous.

Marriage seems really hard.
It is. It is work. Every married guy dreams of bailing at some point. You either do that or you shake that off and get back to work. You don't kill your wife and baby girls. Sickening.

Or your ***** of an (ex) wife tells you she doesn't wanna be married anymore, takes your kids for most of the month and gets 20% of your paycheck.

Don't get married.
Bro, you ok?

He smothered the kids before putting them in the tank...not that that's any better, just correcting the facts.

I read a bit more about the story after watching the doc. They mention in the doc that Bella, the older girl, said "Daddy, no!" right before he killed her...one story I read said that he killed CeCe (the youngest) while she was in the car next to Bella, then Bella watched him dump her body in the tank. When he came back to the truck, she asked him "Is what happened to CeCe gonna happen to me too?".

I hope gets dealt prison justice. Life in prison is too good for him.
Yep. this was the most disturbing part was near the end where he actually told the truth about what happened.

I listened to a Crime Junkies podcast about this and they also said that the openings to the oil tanks were only 8 inches wide (which is why he had to bury Shannan, because she couldnt fit). They found deep scratches, and lacerations on the children's bodies and even a clump of hair on one of the openings...meaning he literally had to force their lifeless bodies into the tanks. Unbelievable that a father could do that to his children.

They also had audio of Bella singing "Daddy, you're my hero" as referenced by the mother of Shannan in the documentary. Extremely heartbreaking.
THANK YOU FOR YOUR ATTENTION TO THIS MATTER!

Any O&G guys here that can tell us more about these tanks? What is their purpose, and sorry to be gruesome, but would they dissolve a body? Are they ever checked? It seems like eventually something would indicate a problem and they'd check them, but I have no idea.

Marriage sounds really hard...this isn't sarcasm, or a joke...as a single person like to be single always, it seems like such a complicated endeavor.

Too old here for it to matter, but best wishes to you young couples out there!

It is. I know you say your too old but, for anyone who is thinking of taking the plunge, if someone tells you "marriage is easy" they are either lying or married a unicorn.

I may have found a unicorn. 21 years of marriage for us which I would say has been easy. However, I would say that parenting has not. And in general for people, the cracks that do exist in a marriage are certainly stressed and for some broken apart by the stress of parenting. The thought of a couple deciding to have a kid (or another kid) while there are issues in the marriage with the thought it may bring them together has always been insane to me

i'm not 21 years in, but i'd echo this. Marriage is easy. Parenting, not so much.

Find the right partner and it isn't. Not to excuse this guy at all, but this gal did seem self-admittedly very controlling with a lot of expectations on how everything should be done. And many of her texts involve her confiding in friends about their problems - including intimate stuff, which IMO is just not healthy. Some folks need to vent, but when you are venting on marriage details and ****-talking your spouse to others behind their back, I think you are on fast-track to that marriage ending. Again, absolutely zero excuse to do what he did. Abhorrent and psychotic. Get a damned divorce, don't become a psychopathic killer.
The number one thing I learned in the marriage prep we took at our church was to never play the "assassinate the spouse" game. IE: Don't criticize your spouse in public settings, in front of friends, etc. and make them look foolish. Don't fight in public. Its not the same as a private conv. with a close friend (IE we all complain about our spouse to someone once in awhile), but never do that in public, esp in front of friends/family you'll see time and time again. The friends/family all REMEMBER!

I recently spoke to my brother who has been married now for 30 years. To me his marriage seems so ideal (you know from the outside looking in). They have no kids, vacation together...do everything together in fact (I've always called them a cutie couple). When I confided in him how difficult it's been for me to even get into a long-term relationship that lasts he simply blurted out you're probably better off single.

This confused me a bit because I've always viewed his marriage as "so on point" at least from an outsiders point of view. He went on to talk about all the marriage counseling and super difficult times that were clearly kept appropriately away from public and family scrutiny.

It was a pretty wow moment for me.

I've wondered why I've always been so bad at the LTR thing and frankly often considered myself an "incomplete" adult. I look around and see relationships happen, and think "why can't I do that?" In my old neighborhood in NY, I got to know neighbor couples only to find they were married but living separately; only together out of financial necessity or the kids. Many would say in passing "oh you're so lucky...you can do and come and go as you want!" I guess the grass is always greener on the other side.

Perhaps being gay adds further complication, and gay men are frankly more confusing than women, but that's for another discussion!

This doc hit me hard...disturbing and thought-provoking in so many levels.

This was very well done in how they used 100% body cams, interview room video, and texts, and absolutely zero interviews. Also, it was refreshing to see an entire story effectively told in less than 90 minutes vs dragging it out into an 8 episode documentary

Exactly. Love this style. They obviously got a bit lucky with her filming so much of that stuff before she died. The body cam stuff though is probably how life is going to be moving forward so that will be more common.

Overall other than the fact that it ended up being a bit predictable , (soon as the neighbor showed up at the start and said "he aint acting right" I knew it was the husband) I loved the show.

The best part is watching him stress when the neighbor is showing him and tbe cop the doorbell cam video for the first time. You could tell he thought he would.be seen carrying the body out right there.

The social media frenzy this kicked off was one of the more disturbing aspects of this very sad case. People blaming the woman and saying she drove him.

They may have had personal and couples issues but come on...

Really sad situation.

The wife was likely not easy to be married to as she came across as pretty controlling (even with the girls) and seemed to be seeking excessive attention on social media, but his behavior seemed to drive a lot of the angst she was feeling. Her issues didn't give him an excuse to do what he did. File for divorce, go be with your ho for a while (until she leaves you for someone else) and get on with it.

Would not be shocked if the mistress had something to do with the killings. He mentioned something at the end of the police interview about "protecting her." "Her" may have been referring to his wife, whom he was claiming at the time was the real killer of the girls. But later, he admitted he did it and gave details. "Protecting her" may have been a slip of the tongue in a stressful situation, referring to his mistress. (IMO).

I wouldn't be surprised if she had something to do with it, but I also feel like she wouldn't have come forward and told the police about the affair if she did. If I'm not mistaken she voluntarily came forward and the police didn't know about his affair until she did.

I thought the most interesting part of this show was how just putting personal content out on the internet basically put a target on her back after she was killed.
