Contact is one of my favorites. don't know if that fits your category exactly.

I rewatched Contact for the first time in years a few nights ago on cable. Not only does it hold up, but I seriously think it might be one of my all-time top ten movies - space, sci-fi, or otherwise. It's just so damn good, and everything I want from a movie.

written by Carl Sagan of course.

Loved the book and the movie. Watch that one whenever I flip by it.

I bought the book a couple years ago but have yet to read it. I definitely need to.

GALAXY QUEST!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

It took 4 pages before Galaxy Quest was mentioned?! This is a national travesty.

It has these things called "aliens" and is therefore ineligible for the title.

I have nothing to add except I can't believe there are people who think Armageddon is a good movie.

If you can't get enjoyment out of watching Armageddon, I just don't know what to tell you.

Lay off Armageddon. It's still responsible for #1 on my "Ways I Would Like to Die" list

Abbreviated List:
#1) Sacrifice myself saving the entire human race from certain destruction like Bruce Willis in Armageddon

Deep Impact did it first and better and more realistic.

Entire space shuttle crew decides to fly into an asteroid and implode it and themselves by nuke to save all of humanity.

I'm not trying to share my glory!

Sacrificing myself as part of a team to save the entire world from certain destruction doesn't make #1 on my list

Robinson Crusoe on Mars is vastly underrated. The Martian borrowed heavily from it.

Plus, Adam West is in it.
