Starting the thread off since they announced a slew of new cast members for Season 2. Still no release date announced, but Q3-4 seems likely. Ba'lian is a new character, the rest have appeared in the books and/or games in various capacities. With Rience in particular being present, it looks like we're going to start moving past the short stories and into the main book series.

She has nice eyes. Would be a shame if something happened to them.

Looks good! I just hope they go with a more conventional linear style, I was not a fan of the timeline jumping in S1.

Excited to see Kaer Morhan and Vessemir.

Seems like they're past the short story collections and getting into the actual meat of the series, so yeah, should be more straightforward from here on

+1. Took me a second watch to figure it out. Geralt not showing any signs of age made it tough for me to follow.

Yes, she's just 2 or 3 years older now.

I need to read the series. Couldn't stand the controls of the first Witcher game, so never played it. Stayed way from Witcher 2 but finally picked up Witcher 3 and loved it. I've avoided the books because I was wary of a translated story. Just feel like you lose the author's "voice".

Look up the "order" to read them.

That's not print order.

I worked with a Polish company and we chatted about the books on one of my visits. I'm sure there are some differences, but one of them looked through one on my kindle and felt that they did a good job of at least capturing the way he used language, so take that for what it's worth.

You can probably find some videos on youtube for games 1 & 2 if you want to experience those stories without the clunky controls. Game 1 seems to stick closer to the novels in terms of timeline and events, while games 2 and 3 go off into their own territory. I'm sure you've heard it mentioned before, but they're not really considered canon, mostly because the author despises games as an artistic medium.

he does not despise them any more. He got a little payday from the game company a year or two ago.
He's softened his language toward them a bit since the payday, but he still holds no love for them or games as a medium

That just blows my mind because the games (especially Witcher 3 + DLC) are so well done. I have read the books as well and I think the games did a better job of story telling and world building than his books.

Which is what every author loves to hear, I'm sure.

New trailer looks good. Semi-surprised they show Yennifer with how they chose to end last season. I guess pretty much everyone that's played the games or read the books knew she was coming back though.

Question for the people who have read all the books (I've only read the first two), would you say Geralt is way stronger with magic at the end of the series vs the first book? Or is he pretty much always the same level of power?

Got you. I've got a pretty good idea what you mean from playing W3, but I wasn't sure about Geralt specifically since by the end of the game you are almost a god.

You're always going to run into that with games just because by nature, they're built on progression.

I don't usually rewatch shows but it feels like it's been forever so rewatched season 1. It is funny to me the production value for this feels significantly better and less fake than Wheel of Time. Yennifers scene at the end still looks really cool to me.

I also think it was a pretty good first season they just tried to be too clever with the timeline stuff and they kind of failed miserably presenting the different timelines.

I think removing all of the 3 storylines at 3 different times from next season will probably help it out some.

animated prequel movie Nightmare of the Wolf is out this week.

prequel featuring Vesemir, Geralt's mentor and the fall of Kaer Morhen

i have not read the books, so no idea how true it is to Witcher lore, but I was entertained.
Just watched this. Pretty entertaining.

I watched it a few weeks ago and enjoyed it.

My family kept coming in and asking why I was watching anime and I had to explain it was a cartoon of a fantasy show based off of a book and video ga…

Never mind. Your 40 year old dad is watching anime. Just accept it.

If the budget was an issue for Season One then whatever the budget is for the Wheel of Time show must be absolute ****e. Re-watching Season One now and it is so much better than the WoT show so far.
