Loved season 2

Only complaint is all of the new monsters are really just variations on dinosaurs. It seems like they ran out of creature ideas

Or the Leshen (tree)
Or the Bruxa (vampire species)
Or the Zeugl (sewer creature in Novigrad)
Or Nivellen

Thanks!

So, I watched the making of and it didn't really talk about the specifics of the creatures that came out of the obelisks/other dimensions/realms - but did anyone else think that the first creature we see kill the Leshy was the creature from Rissberg (the mage created centipede thing - designed to kill and only kill?)

Also, in the books isn't the Wild Hunt pretty much a big Nothing burger?

I am primarily referring to the 'basilisks' Ciri kept summoning at Kael Morhen

Yes, I thought it was a mutated Rissberg and wondered if someone has sent it to kill Ciri

Exactly my thought initially.

so you're primarily referring to the last episode?
Buzzy

Yup

Like I said, it was like they ran out of ideas.

Because they used basilisks? There's lots of descriptions of basilisks, and many contain bird legs because it's a serpent hatched by a bird. It's almost by definition going to be like a dinosaur...

And if you didn't notice, the hut had basilisk legs. Pretty sure the deathless mother had some sort of connection to them.

I mean, they should just create their own monster that's never been in stories. But they have no ideas left

When 3 mages were discussing the witch, I believe one of the descriptions was the hut had basilisk legs

I think I recall that too. Pretty sure there is some kind of connection even if it isn't explored.

That's a terrible idea, IMO. There's just more to legendary monsters and their lore than some random big scary thing.

Does the winky face no longer convey sarcasm? If not, I'll be sure to include /sarcasm from now on.

I was poking fun at the guy saying they were out of ideas.

My bad. Wrong poster. Somehow got you confused with Buzzy going back through the thread.

Ban post, delete user.

Anyone else notice that Ciri's dad was not dissolving but the mom was?

Makes sense considering he's not dead.

Much better throughout than the first season, although I think the first season had cooler moments at the end.

Nice to not have all the weird time jump and I laughed at them making fun of the time jumps with Jaskier's scene at the boat.

The father reveal feels a little..... silly.. but we shall see where they go with it if they provide a logical explanation for it.

I wonder what the budget differences are for this vs Wheel of Time because god there is a massive different in production value.

Ciri's father is Emyhr in the books. I don't recall how it's made known in the books, but it felt kinda necessary to do it where they did in the show. Helped make the Nilfgaard part of the story make more sense, raised the stakes a bit.

Edit: i looked up to refresh my memory and it's not revealed until the end of the books who Ciri's father is.

He has been alive this whole time and never made it know to Ciri? He instead decides to become Emperor and slaughter the only family Ciri has ever known to obtain her?

I know Calanthe and him probably still hate each other, especially since Ciri's mother died but he could have literally just walked in the door and Ciri would likely come running.

Also just the entire story how they go from a "shipwreck" and him being a minor lord to ursurping an entire country.

It could be silly or it could be good if they give some backstory. For now it seems a little weird he has left his daughter in the dark for this long and is slaughtering a continent to get to her when he could have just come back years ago to be with her or sneakily take her away from Calanthe.

Well, I kinda hope and kinda don't hope they go into the machinations that the book has behind this.

But it's interesting to say the least.

Mild spoilers from the books:
He doesn't leave them in the dark. He tries to leave Cintra with his wife and daughter, but Pavetta figures it out and bails. Don't remember how but Pavetta dies in process. He never cared much about Pavetta but he never wanted to leave Ciri.

he set up the boat and whirlpool thing with Vigilfortz and she died in the process of teleporting the ship. Ciri was supposed to be on the ship as well but got "snuck" off or something.

If logic and reason were applied to every scenario, we'd never have compelling entertainment.

3 episodes in. Not a bad show, but at this point I can definitely say it's a bad adaptation. So much of this added stuff is just unnecessary - and it's clearly the worst parts of the show IMO.

Pretty good season. First episode was by far the best though. I'm getting the unfortunate impression that they're moving too fast ala GoT.

They probably could have made three seasons out of the first two and given the show some breathing room.
