Back then, you had to have long hair to be a rocker. Now you have to have tats and no one cares about hair length.

amazingly, hetfield had no tats until late 90s.
Those Hetfield pics are a little revealing about him. That dude is a legit king of rockers, yet he was following trends like a teenage girl. I love Metallica from their first album to their last, but it is what it is. He always looks respectable for the time, I guess.
trends? Black tank top/tee and jeans in every picture lol. Is this a hair comment?

His look of the ajfa/black album era to me is ingrained in my brain as "the" look of a metal frontman.

He's awesome from beginning to end. I was looking at the haircut in the 90s and tats spreading from the 90s to 2020. His t-shirt also had the def leopard cut in the 88 pic.

Any way you slice it, he belongs in the dictionary as an example of a Rock Star.

in my opinion the tats spread rapidly in early 2000s because that's when he first got treatment for alcoholism and he almost lost his band and family, so he refocused his addiction to tats to keep his sanity. He's obviously the addictive personality type, as he's self proclaimed in several interviews.

I hope these aren't fighting words, but I'd love to hear James Hetfield sing some classic country and also write a classic country album. His voice and experience could make a great one.

Best I can do:

Though Mama Said is also pretty much a country song in itself.

Bret Michaels

I'm sure a lot hate him and Poison, but no doubt he would be on my list.

I was just perusing YouTube, as one does, and November Rain appeared on the side. That reminded me immediately of this thread.

Does it get more "rock star" than Slash playing that solo outside the church? That scene is what a rock star is to me. Can't put it into words, but it is the attitude and presence of the man. And I'm not even a big Guns 'n Roses fan, though I am a fan of Slash.

Wouldn't let me link with the 4:00 timestamp

Also, this may need its own thread, but has anyone else had this recommended to them on YouTube? Holy freaking crap. Didn't know I needed this in my life. He already has the Dave Grohl one uploaded, at over an hour. Never really knew much about Brian Johnson, but the dude seems like such a nice guy. I could watch him sit on the beach and talk to Robert Plant all freaking day.

Holy ****. What a great video. Robert Plant isn't a rock Star at all. He's a freakin' god. When he walks up with that sword, then offers it to Johnson..... chills, bro.

Well, he's like one of few stars of that stature who's not had work done. Mick and Keef also come to mind.

Still has that great hair though!
