Anyone really notice that two bands in the Sweet 16 are the same actor?

I don't know I tended to think about the movie or show and not the actor. In his case he actually plays in both as well.

And he had a third one in the round of 64.

Glad to see The Lone Rangers are still in it! But maybe not after this round...

Ah, yeah.

Gonna be that guy again, but Tenacious D is a real band that just so happened to put out a show and movie with a fictionalized version of themselves.

And let's be honest, they're awesome.

Tenacious D had a TV show before they put out any albums.

Of course they did perform before the show was produced but as a comedic act - like The Dan Band.

Right, but they were a band for years before the show.

And the album is what really put them on the map.

Sandler's line in Airheads about, "I ain't farting on no snare drum", is one of the dumbest jokes that I still find hilarious.

Oh and another actor was part of 2 movies here but not 2 bands:

John Belushi of Blues Bros of course was also in Animal House and had a scene with Otis Day and the Knights at the frat house.

Wasn't ever mentioned but I guess the guys who went to the brothers bar "whif" their dates liked the band they heard and hired them. Bluto (Belushi) was not in that scene but was in this scene......

Over under on the number of lines of coke Belushi did before this scene is set at 3.

yeah....lol. a little surprising to me too. I thought that maybe it was just me that had some fascination and appreciation for certain fictional bands....so I made the poll and most of the nominees without any input cuz I'm just kinda nuts and love to make lists and rank things.

I think the reaction tells me that more people have the same sort of dedication to some of these - like for me I grew up idolizing Animal in the Muppets which sounds dumb but I love that band. Maybe for some of these it is because we were introduced at a young and impressionable age. Take the Star Wars band for example no real reason that band should be taken seriously but people voted it in and it pulled off an upset in round one. and of course I really do appreciate when a fake band can actually play or pull off a credible lip sync of material that is actually good.

Anyway...all good.....I'm pulling for the Muppets all the way. But I realized going in certain bands were gonna do well - Spinal Tap, Blues Bros, Marvin Berry, Otis Day, Soggy Bottom Boys.

I'm really just happy to give some exposure to some of these others - hopefully people check out some legit bands they did not know - Stillwater, The Wonders, Steel Dragon, Eddie and The Cruisers, etc.

Well somebody had to go ruin the fun and cast 60 something consecutive votes for Stillwater in about 15 mins..

At first they voted just for Stillwater for 20 or so and then mostly underdogs with Stillwater and Mouse Rat.

I deleted them all.

We're Figrin D'an and the Modal Nodes in the original grouping?

OK I have restored voting - but 60 votes in 30ish minutes all for mostly underdogs and or blank but one specific band was kinda obvious.

We have only had 100-140 ish votes per round and I am watching it frequently and it suddenly jumped from 110s to 172 and almost every race that was pretty steady swung to the underdog.


If you tried to vote LEGITIMATELY after 2pm you might recast your vote.

stop allowing multiple votes....i like Stillwater also and would have voted them 2 or 3 times but i didnt want to sway the voting...one vote is enough
