I disliked prince a lot, but even in the purple rain days, had to acknowledge his talent. Over the years i learned that he was literally a MASTER at a huge number of instruments. And honestly, his voice connects, even if its not your style. Then i saw him play the gottdamned guitar live in a small venue without all the makeup and **** and was incredibly impressed. If you watch the body language of tom petty, clapton etc., in that video it is clear that they are frankly in awe. Over time, i have come to even appreciate his pop music. And i friggin hate pop. So no, not overrated. Tragic lost talent.

Took my kids to see Prince at the LA Forum moons ago... as part of his 2?... 3 week run at that venue. We had seats center and 50 feet away. I've taken my kids to 200+ concerts from the age of 4.

After the show one of my sons said it was the best show ever he'd been to. That from a kid who, at 19, signed a $1,000,000+ major label record contract.

That was until we hit Water's Us and Them show at Staples. I believe to this day that show remains his fave.

Price wasn't over-rated.
I want to hear more about this story.

Back in my stage building days, I built one for prince. Us hands weren't allowed to even gaze in his direction and when he was being moved around the tunnels in our vicinity we had to turn around and face the wall. Also, the stage hands food had to be vegetarian too per his rider. Just ridiculous.

We did each get a t shirt that I sold on ebay for over $100 though so that was pretty cool.

I've got a friend who used to be entertainment director at one of the mega hotel/casinos. She said that Prince was THE number one attraction for other artists. That's who the entertainers she booked wanted VIP passes to.

I love how how tosses the guitar up and it's never seen again. God-level performance.
