I need to freshen up my Texas playlist. It's definitely country, but not exclusively (examples: La Grange, Bobby McGee). The criteria for inclusion is that it has to be a song about Texas, or at least featuring a key line about Texas, or it has to be by a Texas artist (born or settled).
I have a lot of REK, George, Willie, Lyle Lovett, Pat Green, Roger Creager. A little Charlie Pride, Parker McCollum, Jerry Jeff, Gary P Nunn.
A few recent additions are Keep the Wolves Away by Uncle Lucius, All I see is You by Shane Smith, and She Likes the Beatles by College Station's own William Clark Green.
I only have one David Allen Coe song, "Willie, Waylon and Me" because I can't decide if he fits as a TX artist. He claimed to be "from Dallas, Texas" in one of his songs, and I'm generally of the mind that if you claim Texas you're a Texan, but I can't find that he actually lived in TX for very long so maybe someone knows what the connection is. I'd add several more if he could be considered a Texas artist.
So if you're making a Texas playlist with the above criteria, what has to be on it?
Thanks for any input.
