One of the most fascinating things of the last 6 or so years has been watching the posters that might have been right or left leaning but didn't wrap everything in politics change into these snowflakes that get offended with everything and have come to view the other side as the "other".
I am not sure if it is due to the average age of posters increasing and the natural conservative shift that happens with age or if the echo chamber aspect of this site has worked to radicalized them.
I feel this is a pretty biased and unfair take and tend to feel at first glance that your own beliefs might shade this view. I mean you accused people of looking at the other side as "other" and then immediately did the same yourself both before this comment and in the very next sentence.
I think the problem a lot of people have is how politics, particularly left-leaning politics, have become so intrusive and insidious. I'm not sure when everything became so completely intertwined but if anyone right of progressive has an opinion they are called "snowflakes" and "to watch something else". The problem is...what do you watch? Sports have become disgustingly political. You certainly can't watch anything out of Hollywood if you don't want to be preached to or condescended to.
I lean conservative for fiscal reasons but am pretty open on social issues until the point that you're telling me how to think or how I can speak. I would never want to watch sports or movies that preach incessantly about conservative values either. I want an escape and to be entertained, not preached to...by either side. There's already enough of that nonsense in the world as it is.
