Bargatze slow out of the chute but he found his stride as the monologue went on.

That first joke he made about showers….he had to have screwed that up. I refuse to believe that was an actual joke/punchline.

Let's see how this goes….
That joke killed in my house. But then I'm Nate's age.

Does SNL come on at 8:30 in California or do they delay it so y'all can watch it at 10:30 like normal people?

It used to be delayed to 10:30 our time, but maybe five or six years ago they finally switched it to 8:30, so it's live for us as well.

Mine too, we had just spent last weekend at a hotel with one of those showers, and were talking about the same thing.

Last weekend's episode solidified Marcello Hernandez as my favorite current cast member. And as a featured player.

You can tell they're really letting James Austin Johnson put some Southern humor in these shows with "Lake Beach." He had the amazing car dealership commercial last season when Michael b. Jordan hosted that was set in Brenham. As great as he is as Trump and Biden, that guy is really talented.

I think the randomness of the George Washington skit was my favorite of last night.

The dealership skit was from Andrew Dismukes. (From Houston.)

Fantastic one.

All in all, that was the best episode in forever, if only judging by the amount of sketches we didn't skip. My parents are in town, had no idea who Bargatze was, and they were cracking up the entire time. In addition to Lake Beach, a few other gems…

Those were great. Loved the monologue (including the shower bit) as well as George Washington.

Bargatze is great. My wife and I have been following him since we saw him on the standups back in 2018/2019. Believe it or not he came up in the Chicago/NY comedy scene alongside some true filthbag comics and remains good friends with them. Pretty wild to see him seamlessly jump onto a podcast with guys that pepper every sentence with F bombs and describe everything in graphic detail. It's just a bonus that you don't have to worry about him diving off into some raunchy bit about sexual functions etc.

Anyone unfamiliar should go check out his 30 set on Netflix' "The Standups" and then proceed to his 1st full hour Netflix special The Tennesee Kid.

The Tennesee kid had me dying the whole way through.

I'd also like to add that Nate Bargatze….especially in his younger comic years….looks like a real life random Family Guy character.

Nate got me to watch SNL for the first time in forever. However, I did watch it on Sunday afternoon.

Loved every skit. The George Washington was my favorite.

I highly recommend subscribing to Nateland and, separately. Nate's podcast. All clean and very funny. The podcast has 4 comedians on it that talk about everyday stuff - no politics, nothing edgy.

The podcast (2nd link) is after SNL and he goes through the entire week and show.

Well, I just found out 900 things about Please Don't Destroy that I never knew as they were on the Tonight Show with Fallon a couple of days. Most notably that John is the son of Fallon's sidekick Higgins. Martin's Dad was also a writer on SNL and Ben was an intern on the Tonight SHow just a few years ago.

My wife and I were dying during that one. We got the sense that he may have had a heavy hand in writing some of that, as I could see him doing a similar bit during a standup routine, but who knows. We have been fans for a long time, especially after meeting him briefly back in 2018 or 2019, so I may be extremely biased, but he MADE that SNL episode.

Most fun I've had watching SNL in a long long time. For newcomers who are unfamiliar with his style and delivery, I could see it maybe not being a big hit, but for us it was.

I will also always respect how difficult it is to be so funny on stage without using bad language or raunchiness. It is tough to be THAT clean of a comic and THAT successful. I think a lot of the more raunchy comics get that and respect it was well. Can anyone here imagine Louie CK never cursing or using lewd humor and still being hilarious? Maybe he could, but it's tough to imagine for me.

Higgins isn't just Fallons sidekick, he is also a long time writer and producer on SNL.

Will Forte is a secret genius whose stuff only sort of intersects with the SNL audience.

I woke my wife up laughing so hard at the Washington sketch and I've watched the opening monologue 4 times now. I will definitely have to check out his standup online and maybe see a show!

Also Lake Beach was infinitely relatable.

Have to admit, I don't watch SNL these days, but I checked these out, and they were great. Bargatze is awesome and I somehow did not know who he was. Thanks for sharing these.

Below is a really good podcast with Bargatze, David Spade and Dana Carvey. They talk a lot about Bargatze on SNL.
