The fact that we already know we have a Walt/Jesse cameo coming confirms that we still have flashbacks to see, which in and of itself is kind of another spoiler.

I wish they'd never given us that piece of information to begin with. If they hadn't, we'd have no reason to expect them anymore at this point.

I agree but I understand why they revealed it. We still have no idea how they will show up and one thing that's certain after 11 seasons in this universe is that we never know which way they are going to take us so there is still a lot to anticipate.

I rewatched the phone scene. It's from Season 4, Episode 5 "Quite A Ride"

Quote:

Saul:
Okay, when the cops come talk to you - and they will - what are you gonna tell them?

Francesca:
Talk to my attorney.

Saul:
Yeah.

(SAUL DIGS A CARD OUT OF HIS WALLET AND HANDS IT TO FRANCESCA)

Tell them, uh, Jimmy sent you.

Okay. Where are you going to be on November 12th at 3 PM?

Francesca:
I'll be there, but if it doesn't ring at 3 on the dot, I'm gone.

Saul:
Don't worry. It's gonna ring.

Seems like the "Tell them Jimmy sent you" has more to do with the cops calling, Francesca calling a lawyer, and Saul telling Francesca to tell the name on the card that "Jimmy sent her" as opposed to being about the Nov 12 call.

We know that's not how the vacuum guy operates, and that's the only other card we've seen really featured.

Now I'm wondering if Saul handed Francesca a card for an attorney. We now know that HHM is gone, and the people there that knew him there are gone. I doubt Cliff Main would do Jimmy any favors. Maybe Kim moved away and got back into the law, and Saul he handed Francesca Kim's card. That's about the only name I can think of that would help a friend of Jimmy's.

My total guess (and I do not read reddit or twitter about this show, so this is 100% off the wall from my brain):
Saul has Francesca makes contact with Kim as her "attorney."
Saul calls Francesca on a payphone at 3PM on November 12, after Francesca has presumably made contact with Kim.
Saul tells Francesca to tell Kim where he is hiding, thereby facilitating a Nebraska reunion.
I assumed he handed her an attorney's card, since he just had her suggest cops talk to her attorney. No idea who was on the card, but by saying "tell them Jimmy sent you" I thought that was to mean it was someone he knew in the past, before becoming Saul, and might be more compassionate towards a friend of Jimmy versus friend of Saul. Jimmy would know Main or Schweikart are good lawyers who would represent her well, but saying "jimmy sent me" would serve no purpose and not help her cause. Maybe overthinking this line.

Hadn't really considered the fact the card held some other type of contact - someone to help her disappear or protect her in some other way.

So do I have the timeline somewhat correct? ... Walt dies on Sept 7, 2010. The tu/Nebraska game was about 5 weeks later.

(And the Gabe Bock "Meathead " moniker was born on Texags later in the season, after Brandon's camera was assaulted.)
Saul and Walt get "disappeared" in March 2010.

When packing up his office and destroying evidence in March 2010, Saul tells Francesca to be ready for a call November 12th at 3PM. Said as in "that year". So Francesca to get called by someone on November 12th, 2010. November 12th 2010 was a Friday, that date wasn't their wedding anniversary or anniversary of scam leading to special tequila bottle, I couldn't find any significance to the date.

Gene and the security guard talk about Martinez's record freshman passing record in the Oklahoma State game that occurred Oct 23rd, 2010. So that is getting close to November 12th. Of course, no guarantees there aren't flash backs or flashforwards in next 3 episodes to fill time - that call might be in the final episode.

If Saul and Walt got disappeared in 2010, Jimmy is coordinating a call on 11/12/10, and there are references in this episode that place us in Oct 2010, wouldn't Walt still be alive in NH on that timeline? And Jesse is imprisoned cooking for Todd/biker gang? If Walt/Jesse make an appearance in the Gene timeline, wondering how they pull the off? Maybe I have my timelines messed up.
They need a fat Todd cameo.

Someone mentioned a couple pages back that Walt died in September of 2010 - how they know that or how accurate it is, I'm not sure. Walt was in New Hampshire while it was still cold and snowy so that had to be early 2010.
It was snowy when he left, though. I guess he could have been on the road for a while before the showdown at the compound. Seems like that would a long time, though.
I think the heavy snow may have actually just been an oversight by the writers. There is heavy snow when we see Walt leaving, but then when he gets to ABQ it is his birthday, which is September 7th. There would not be heavy snow on the ground at that point in the year, unless we are to believe Walt left months before actually arriving in New Mexico.

As for who else could be on the card given to Francesca, I wonder if it could be the number of the vet who Jimmy got the black book from. Dropping Jimmy's name would likely still garner goodwill with him, although we are under the impression he was out of the game at that point.

Thought I heard a Doppler shift on that bell as they carried Hector off. I almost think Don Eladio believes him but prefers the money Fring is bringing in.

It seemed like Gus was going to get lucky there for a minute or so.

Everyone gets to go back to their cushy lives but Mike.

I knew Nacho's father would come back into play when Mike held onto his fake ID card. I wrongly figured Mike was going to have to get Nacho's father to safety, but it was still a great scene. He kind of passed moral judgement on all the characters in the BB universe. That's not justice, that's revenge. I hadn't really appreciated the parallel relationship between Mike/his son and Mike/Nacho until now.

Another excellent scene with Jimmy and Kim and the breakup. We may or may not see them together again. What was the whirring noise after she stormed out? Never mind, closed captioning says she was taping up boxes.

Anyone else expect Heisenberg to come walking in at the end of the episode? I guess that's next week.

[I'm just getting through Episode 9, but no further]

Curious as to WHY would Nacho's Dad be out of harm's way? Isn't Hector the revengeful type that could wipe him out based purely on revenge alone?

Google tells me the snowy period in NH is from October 30 to April 16 so theoretically it could have been April when Walt left. That is still a long time before he dies. Probably a rare mistake by the writers. I doubt he was on the road that long.

He drove straight from NH to the ABQ. He told the Dennys waitress the amount of time it took to drive if only stopping for gas (when she asked).
True but he took time to visit Elliot & Gretchen, Todd & Lydia, Skyler, and the time to devise the plan to kill the Nazis. All of that took time but probably not as long as this timeline would indicate.

The timeline for all the events in 2010 does seem a little bit condensed, but I think what everyone is posting is accurate based on how things are presented in the show. I wouldn't worry too much about the snow in New Hampshire, that was just the showrunners saying "Hey, he's hiding out in snowy New Hampshire!!".

Exactly. They may have overdone it in establishing the scene/location, but that's basically all it is. Walt came back late summer and died in September

The New Hampshire timeline in Breaking Bad doesn't make much sense only with respect to the snow. If Walt leaves in March, the weather in northern New Hampshire probably still has snow on the ground through the month. We see Walt grow a full head of hair over the time that he is in NH, and we see the vacuum cleaner man come up at least one other time and he comes once a month.

We also know that Jesse was stuck with the nazis for a while cooking meth. Finally, we know that Walt is at the dinner on his way in with the M60 on his birthday, which google tells me is Sept 7.

We also know that Skyler has been interrogated by the police, moved out of the house, and found a new job.

So Walt had to be in NH for about 5 months, from March 2010 until August 2010, and that he drove down from NH at the end of August/beginning of September, and arrived near ABQ on Sept 7.

Bottom line, they shouldn't have had Walt in a snowy car after he called himself in. It made for a nice bit with him hiding and all, though.

After my rant last night, I come back to the thread to discover that aTmAg has once again delivered yet another epically bad, ill-informed take, one in which he of course doubles down on over and over again, and is so mind-numbing that it essentially spurred three entire pages of discussion since late last night. Thanks for taking the heat off me!

If one finds his or herself taking opinions about a tv show on this board personally, which some of you seem to, it might be time to take a breath and back away for a bit. People can think it sucked. People can love it. Who cares.

So I went looking for an old review of the BB Granite State episode to see if I could pick up anything else about the timing of those events post-vacuuming. I didn't see much, but I did find this now-funny comment from Alan Sepinwall's review:

Quote:

* I'd been wondering the last few weeks if we would ever get a look at Saul's identity-changing "guy." Then he revealed himself in a piece of casting I'm impressed was kept secret as ace character actor Robert Forster, who was perfectly calm and Ehrmantraut-esque in the best possible way. While I will keep an open mind about "Better Call Saul," at the moment I'd rather see a quasi-spin-off starring Forster and Jonathan Banks as no-nonsense retired cop brothers who bust up fools because it's just in their nature.

When the cab driver was expressing his concerns about going through with the heist at their little obstacle course in the snow, Saul brought up something to the effect of "a chemistry teacher, starts selling meth and rakes in millions of dollars..." Can't remember the exact context or quote but that's the only time I remember a Walt reference in the episode.
