Really into it as well. Each episode has been better than the last.

I'm just glad to see that Dukie turned his life around and became a cop ( and a good one! )

I guess it's just me, since everybody here seems to enjoy it, but I find it really distracting how this show uses so many Wire actors. It ruins the "emersion" (can't think of a better word). I can't NOT see Marlo as Marlo, especially when he's sitting right next to Dukie, for example. To me the best guy on the show is Jon Bernthal, and I'm not sure if it's because he's good or because he's a fresh face. I'm inclined to say the former. To me he's always been a "that guy", but he seems to be in a LOT of stuff recently and he's been good in all of it.

Jon Bernthal absolutely swinging for the fences. Dude was on a tear this latest episode.

Still loving this show so much.

The court room scene with the jury selection....I am honestly surprised that isn't a more common problem. I know I give the benefit of the doubt to the suspect and not the cop. Especially if the cop doesn't live in the jurisdiction.

The constantly open mouth, wide leg walk, and bowed up chest just make me think this is a dream character for him and he's having a blast playing Jenkins. He is ruthless though, stealing money from a little person stripper, that's the worst thing he's done so far IMO. I have a feeling he's going to get away with everything though. There just doesn't seem like there is any justice in Baltimore.

Dwarf is the preferred term.*

Per the lawyer on the show. I laughed at her trying to be PC but calling her a dwarf.

This show got me on The Wire. I always heard about it but started it the day after watching the first episode of We Own This City. I can't lie, the one show a week seems like the stone ages. I really want to binge this!

My issue is that this show makes it seem like 80% of the department are corrupt cops while that the crusaders are 100% pure. Yet it's likely the other way around. Despite cameras being prevalent, the cases of abuse are still few and far between. If it was as bad as this show, then there would be daily barrage of video of cops kicking the crap out of people. Likewise, the real life BLM has shown itself to be corrupt as hell as they buy multi-million dollar homes and even call people racist for even asking about those allegations.

The Wire was more realistic in my opinion on that front. In that show, there was a crappy system that encouraged laziness and often punished good police work, but most the cops were doing their best and only a few were really bad.

Maybe it's because they are focusing on the Gun Trace Taskforce and they apparently really were corrupt and a book was written about it.

Do you always have to make stuff political. Also if you did any basic background research you would realize this is based of real events. Wayne Jenkins is a real person who was convicted of crimes depicted in the show. I hate woke crap but I have barely seen anything about BLM in the show other than Freddie gray riots. Life is grey not black and white, your beloved police aren't some moral warriors

This show is not portraying it as "grey". They are making it 80% one direction. That's the point.

It's going beyond that. The jury selection scene said that they could only find 7 impartial jurors out of 180. That's an indictment of the entire police force. Not even I think a democrat run police force could be THAT corrupt from top to bottom.

He's been doing this for YEARS. He has an opinion on, and thinks he knows everything about, every subject known to man, and tries his damnedest to make those opinions political. And when you tell him to take it to F16, he only doubles down, and then makes himself out to be some kind of crusader for "truth." It's batsh*t insane behavior, and it never ends.

LOL. Says the guy who trashes anybody who dares to disbelieve that aliens are zooming around our skies daily.

I never said I know everything about every subject. I sure as hell didn't say I know everything about police, Baltimore, or anything in this thread. Just that if somebody didn't know better, they would watch this show and believe that 80%-95% of police are corrupt as hell. That is clearly BS.

Ha, what??? I don't give two sh*ts what anyone else thinks about aliens. In a thread like a year ago I said it's *possible* our military pilots are seeing something strange in our skies, but that, ultimately, I completely understand if that's a bridge too far for most people.

So far, the inclusion of BLM in this show is neutral and innocuous. In other words, the show itself hasn't taken a stance on BLM. It's merely been a plot device. You're the one making it political.

I am watching. In the context of asking whether or not the portrayal of these cops as dirty is realistic, the comment about BLM is completely irrelevant. It's also not nearly as "front and center" as you seem to make it.

You just see "Team Blue" being portrayed negatively and have to get in a "but, but, but the other side!!!" comment which is the most tiring form of debate there is.
