The only one missing from my list is Jurassic Park. I've said why before.
Honorable mention to Saving Private Ryan - amazing first 20 minutes and then it's some guys with no training and no idea where they are going just wandering around the front line and behind it. And anywhere they had realistically found him would have been in communication with people who would have made the entire movie unnecessary.

I tried to watch The Matrix at least half a dozen times and I didn't hate it but I was so bored I couldn't finish it every time. I tried. So many people rave about it I gave it many tries but it just didn't click with me. Altogether I have watched about 45 minutes of it. I haven't bothered watching any of the sequels either.
I consider myself somewhat if a sci fi fan but just didn't care for it.

Totally agree with your take on The Matrix. I'll add Dune to the list. Amazing cinematography but boring.
If someone doesn't like both Dune and The Matrix, then maybe sci fi just isn't for them. Not calling you out Agasuarus, just hypothesizing.

I liked Dune and have watched the original version many times but am embarrassed to admit I liked the original better than the remake. I enjoyed the weirdness of the Lynch film and thought it was like nothing I had seen before and the soundtrack was a million times better than that of the remake. I liked the original cast better as well.

I've watched it a couple times. The non linear storytelling didn't let me connect with the characters. I typically like Nolan's methods but it just rang hollow for me. I certainly rank it behind the Dark Knight Trilogy, Prestige, Interstellar, Inception and Memento (non linear but revolves around one person).

Hate to burst your bubble but I've loved sci-fi ever since I first started reading H. G. Wells as a kid. The original Godzilla and King Kong were amazing to me as a kid. Just didn't care for Dune and Matrix.

Fair enough!
Don't hate it and understand why many love it but I think the The Big Lebowski is a notch or two lower than the Coen Brother's best films. (Raising Arizona, Miller's Crossing, Fargo, O Brother, Where Art Thou?, No Country for Old Men, True Grit).
