Obvious troll is obvious.
This. It is one thing to say it wasn't your thing, but to call one of the greatest cinematic masterpieces in history "awful" is trolling.Brian Earl Spilner said:
But to say it's awful?
I once heard a standup comic nail this. He said it was three movies that were three hours long each about walking through the woods. Even the trees walk through the woods in these movies.snowdog90 said:
Lord of The Rings trilogy. And I love the books.

It simply blows my mind that any could watch that empty shell of movie and think "yeah that was a good movie" let alone a great movie. Just weird torture porn. No compelling story. No character development. Nothing. Just an Eli Roth fever dream

For those that say Star Wars, I would be interested to know if it was before their time.
When you view it through today's lens it's average, because everything else sci-fi copied it or expanded on it,
Anyone who was around then can attest to how truly groundbreaking and just light years ahead of its time it was. It changed what was possible for action films, sci-fi, FX and even the cinematic score. It was in theaters for a full year. There really isn't a modern historical comparison.
You might be right. Unlike the 1st, I only saw the 2nd once and that was back when it came out.Brian Earl Spilner said:
You're quoting Clerks 2.

This was not a good movie. The songs are way way too long and fast.

What's your favorite movie?
Yep. Stood in line three times on consecutive days when it opened as a 7 year old. Totally blown away. My sci-fi exposure to that point was Star Trek reruns, Lost in Space and Bugs Bunny cartoons.maroon barchetta said:oragator said:

It was beyond any Sci-Fi I could have imagined at the time.
Vader, in that menacing black costume, tower over everyone with a helmet based on a Nazi infantry helmet, with that respirator going and the voice of James Earl Jones telling tiny Leia "YOU ARE A REBEL SPY!!!" all against that white background on the hallways on the Tantive IV, and flanked by bright white Stormtroopers (another Nazi callback), all this immediately after that opening score and the episode description coming up the screen and going off into space…that was about as good a night as a young movie goer could experience.
To the thread, the Clerks movies suck. The only redeeming quality from those movies is the Deathstar monologue if I'm associating that with the right movie.Brian Earl Spilner said:
