This weekend will be interesting as it'll likely be a 3-way battle for first place…
He-Man (unfortunately) is tracking around 30-35 million total and Scary Movie 6 could land around the same number…and then you've got Backrooms in its second weekend that could land around that same mark depending on its legs.….
They made sure to remove he man from the title. More woke garbage. They can't even have a hot supergirl. And get ready for more movies made by YouTubers. Sh it just gets worse

BOX OFFICE: May domestic box office crossed $1B for the first time since 2019. It is the 9th time in history we’ve seen $1B in May and the first time it has happened without a Marvel movie. pic.twitter.com/JOo2M0vd5t

I figured. That's gotta be more of an idiotic typo though because all those other numbers seem on par. They're all highlighted blue which also mean they're just projections.Brian Earl Spilner said:
Yes, that's wrong. It's gonna open to over $55M.
Box Office Mojo doesn't put out updated weekend numbers till Sunday usually.

Feel like a 200 million dollar budget for a relatively dead franchise isn't the smartest play but what do I know. https://t.co/Qnu3twoAqS

If HeMan bombs, I would like to see a ranking of Jared Leto's last few movies.
Master's of the Universe
Tron:Ares
Haunted Mansion
Morbius
House of Gucci
The Little Things
The Outsider
Blade Runner 2049
I'm probably leaving some out, and some are direct to Netflix, but he hasn't been box office gold.
Here is a healthy stat about the box office.... only the 2nd time since Summer 2016 that we have had 3 consecutive weekends where the Top 10 is $170m+ each weekend. Barbenheimer only other time. Could have 5 weekends in a row $200m+ starting June 19th-July 17th. Incredible! pic.twitter.com/yNZ5Xdako2

This will be the 4th weekend in a row with a movie opening above $40M, only the second such streak this decade after May-June 2023. With Toy Story 5, Supergirl, Minions 3, Moana, and Odyssey all ahead, we should end up with nine weekends of $40M openers in a row (a new record). https://t.co/Pzn5N3Adpm

It was initially projected to do only $35M opening weekend.
It's now likely going to hit around $44M.
Regardless, Spielberg simply isn't the draw he used be, and there's no big, male, movie-star lead, so expectations were never too high for this one. Universal was hoping to open to do $40M+, they'll do just that, and everyone will be happy.
For Universal, this was always their warm-up before releasing both Minions & Monsters and The Odyssey in July, each of which could potentially come close to, if not surpass, a billion.
