Sucks about the release date being pushed back, but man, this looks so damn good. To the point where I'm kind of annoyed I can't watch it on the big screen. It just looks like everything I want from Star Wars that previous Disney+ series haven't been able to deliver... massive scope, good dialogue, real locations, multiple plot lines, no kid stuff, etc

Re: the move, I'm assuming they ultimately didn't want to release it smack dab between House of the Dragon and LOTR, especially since LOTR would have dropped just two days later. This way they can let those both of those premiere, then swoop in a few weeks later. The move also now puts the Andor finale airing the Wednesday just before Thanksgiving, during the holiday, which could be fun.

Can't bring myself to put Andor dead least, but it's ever so slightly in last place for me currently.

I just can't get on board for the LOTR series. I loved the first three movies, but walked out of The Hobbit about 30 minutes in, never saw the others, and then this just looks so incredibly bland to me. After two trailers, I still have no idea what the plot is or who the main character(s) is/are. Unless it's getting stellar reviews, I don't think I'm going to bother. Even She-Hulk looks better to me right now.

I agree with what you say about the Obi-Wan series looks "off", but one point needs correction. The Leia chase scene through the woods was filmed in a forest. Can't blame The Volume on that one.

Well kind of a kick in the teeth that they use the trailer to announce they've pushed it back 3 weeks to September 21... but

SAW
A GD Z-95 Headhunter!
Clone troopers!
LAATs!

I gotta say I'm way more hyped for the Coruscant parts than then Andor parts. And not just because Genevieve O'Reilly is a smokeshow.

The Andor parts of fomenting the riots and stuff reminds me of my favorite scene from The Hunger Games where Katniss honors Rue with the song and the hand gesture, and Rue's district is watching on the monitor and decides enough of this imperial bull****, it's time to **** something up. The OT is all about hope and we're all one big happy family and being brave, but I've always admired that Cassian's character in Rogue One and hopefully the broader picture in his part of this show is the simmering rage that an oppressed people feel against a giant organization like the Empire and finally building into something dangerous and explosive.

For me this has always been THE scene from that series, and what I hope this show can aspire to...

That looks so good, I'm a huge fan of Rogue One so this plays right to me.

Might be obscure to some people here but did one of the guys in the trailer look a lot like Starkiller from The Force Unleashed games? He's on the poster right in the middle.

I think this looks amazing, and I have high hopes for the simple fact that this should be significantly easier to make than a Jedi centered Star Wars show/movie. We don't need to deal with space magic. Just good ole fashioned rebels vs tyrannical government.

Honestly, I've really wanted a few more shows and movies like this for a while. Next time we should visit force users should be Ashoka and something from the Old Republic era.

I was thinking more that it was due to what's coming out on Disney +

We've got She-Hulk and Groot coming out August 17th and August 10th respectively. So by the time She-Hulk is wrapping up we'll have Andor starting its 12 episode season 1.

Also we've got Bad Batch S2 starting September 28th and both of these shows are supposed to take place around the same time (more or less)…..So maybe we see some crossover????

I don't think they've done that with non-main characters in Star Wars having them appear in live action and animation…..BUT…..we have had Sal Guerra show up in both and now we know he's in Andor…..

Crossover??????????????

Even with the push-back, Andor and She-Hulk will still overlap four Wednesdays in a row. So I don't know how much is "solved" in that regard, but yeah, that potentially played a part in the move as well.

You can want to not watch it, because those hobbit movies did suck a lot..but its pretty clear who at least 2-3 of the main characters are.
Andor is the only show I am expecting to be good, but I will watch all 3

The original trilogy was basically, "Frodo, you have to go throw this ring in that volcano." It was incredibly straightforward, you immediately knew the stakes, etc, and it could all be easily distilled in a trailer.

I watch the trailers for the show, though, and I still have no idea what the plot is, or who's supposed to be doing what. There's nothing there that's grabbing my attention on a character or narrative level.

I mean, they say the names Galadriel and Elrond, and they featured throughout the trailers. They also show her in armor with weapons, when we only saw her chilling at her city in LotR.

Whatever the rest of the plot is who knows, but I dont think its really fair to compare a trailer for this show to a series of movies from an established book series either.

Trailer 2:
"we thought the war ended"
"today the days of peace begin"
We see galadriel have a potential vision of a future war
evil does not sleep, it waits
dwarves getting up to their usual shenanigans in the mountains
Multiple references to sauron
"if the evil rising is left unchecked it will take us all"

Galadriel is in like 70% of the trailer

I'm not convinced the show will be good, due to how Amazon handled Wheel of Time, but the most recent trailer was enough to convince me to watch with an open mind. Similar to Andor feeling star war, it felt like the world Tolkien created and Peter Jackson brought to life in the Lord of the Rings trilogy.

Is Galadriel the character that Cate Blanchett played way back when? And this is a younger version of her? For those of us who haven't seen or read any of this stuff in 20 years, those names hardly mean anything and they all basically sound the same.

Yes.
I'm guessing they must not be allowed to use footage from the Lord of the Rings trilogy. Otherwise that seems like a no-brainer for advertising this show for the exact reasons you mention. It would provide compelling reasons to relate to these characters.
They just have to hope you remember if you arent someone that either read the books many times, or rewatched the movies many times.
I guess I can stop hijacking the Andor thread soon as well, but its an interesting conversation

I can't cast stones. I'm mostly on the other side of it however. I guess I hit about 35 and asked myself, why do I care about this thing so much? So I grew up... I stopped investing so much time in following recruiting and focused on important things, like Star Wars news.

TC's hidden illiteracy problem strikes again. FYI if you want to catch up with the movies, they have been on TNT or TBS every 6 hours for the last 20 years.

Not to derail, but recruiting is the lifeblood of the football program. I am 53 years old. I want to see an Aggie national championship before I die. And there are more years behind me than ahead of me. So it's pretty important to me.

I get the enjoyment out of going to and the excitement/anticipation that can come with a new season coming up.

But damn, the lengths these guys go to is simply disbursing. I had an old coworker who would literally throw stuff in his office because some 16yr kid across the country changed his mind about where he was going to spend one weekend during the spring.

I was like that, once. I recall coming out of a meeting on signing day, getting back to my desk and taking a quick peek to find that Corey Nelson had screwed the Ags and signed with blOU. I was quite unhappy. Nope, didn't know the kid, wasn't personal, all of that. When I stepped back and took a look at how I was reacting (wasn't throwing stuff, but I was pissed off and ready to bite someone's head off), I thought this is F****G ridiculous. Have not been that way ever since.

But I do still follow Aggie recruiting.

You know, I see all these new posts on the Andor thread thinking there is some news today to check out and it turns out it's some discussion about the LOTR trailers, Hobbit sucks, can't remember 20 years ago, I want to see the Ags win something before I die, etc.

Might was well just start talking about theme parks and fast passes at this point.

To keep it on topic, if we win a national title in football in the next 4 years, I'll buy you an Andor poster signed by Diego Luna.
