I'd probably pay more than that at this point. The amount of time I've consumed not just clicking the suggested IMDB links by everyone but then going through all of the "if you liked this movie" list is plain sad...

I'm waiting 2 more days then asking Reddit again. If TexAgs and Reddit both fail to produce any kind of answer, I will come to grips that I simply made this movie up to cope with some issue of my childhood. Keep an eye out on the other forums for potential topics next week of "was I abused?" or "did anyone's childhood imaginary friends star in a movie?".

The Vanilla Ice movie, Cool as Ice? It's not Christmas time, but its in a subdivision and on a construction site. The bad guys are looking for something in a house and kidnap the little brother. Fits the timeline and was definitely straight to video.

I vaguely remember a movie that fits some of your description. The main character was a former football player and his neighborhood was taken over by ex-military types trying to rob something. He starts running around playing vigilante, throwing stuff at the bad guys like he's hitting receivers.

I looked up Brian Bosworth, but he doesn't have a movie that matches this.

Who knows, maybe I just made that up in my head.

Yep, looked him up on imdb. The movie was called The Taking of Beverly Hills. Came out in '91, so I probably saw it on VHS a year or two later. I would have been about 12 or 13 at the time.
