I always thought this was a stupid movie. Could never see what everyone else saw in it.

Maybe comedy just isn't for you.

Well I thought Talladega Nights and Napoleon Dynamite were stupid too, so maybe it's not

The opening credits montage of Austin Powers 3 with the surprise cameos had me rolling.

I think it's the best one. Many disagree.

"Quid pro quo, Mr. Powers!"

My 9yr old boy LOVES rock, especially more classic stuff. I'm debating letting him see Wayne's World. There may be too many adult references that I don't want to explain.

A sphincter says what?

Exactly

I was trying to figure out a good older movie for my son's 11th birthday sleep over and while I dont think I can do Austin Powers with all of his friends just yet, the suggestion of Waynes World is a good one I had completely forgotten about. Any other suggestions would be appreciated. I dont mind cursing, but Im not sure of the other parents and more sexual based comedy movies just quite yet.

I'm not one to tell parents what to do with their kids but I was 11 when Spy Who Shagged Me came out and it was one of my favorite movies of that year. I had already seen the first one countless times on VHS.

Oh I dont mind for mine, I am just not sure about some of the other kids parents and how they would feel. Its a good reason to rewatch both

Around that age there was some drama in the neighborhood because we all watched Bloodsport at a friends house. I thought it was awesome. So that.

I remember watching Monty Python and the Holy Grail with my buddies when I was about that age. We were all dying laughing the whole time, but we were a bunch of nerds.

We tried to watch Austin Powers with my kids not too long ago. There are so many sex jokes at the beginning of that movie. My kids just had gotten the talk, and were pretty embarrassed the whole time and both stopped watching the movie. So there's a sweet spot of the sex jokes flying over their heads or being mature enough to laugh at them. In between those phases it was just awkward and embarrassing for them.

That's exactly where we are at with my son and I'm not sure where his friends are at either so that insight is very helpful.

Happy Gilmore maybe? The Waterboy? There's a little sex stuff in both, but I don't think it's too overt.

Thoughts:
1) Tom Cruise, zero English accent
2) Danny Devito, ROFLMAO
3) Gwynneth was a smoke show in this little cameo

I think back to that age for myself, and I can specifically remember sleepovers that involved Die Hard, Commando, Friday the 13th and Wraith. Titties and all.

So don't look to me for guidance.

Commando, Bloodsport, Platoon, Nightmare on Elm Street. Just a few completely inappropriate movies I watched before turning 10. Heck my dad took us 3 kids to see Boyz in the Hood at the theater. I was 11, my sister was 9.

I want to thank Tanya's post for giving me an idea for when my kids are a bit older and also Wayne's World was a huge hit with the 10/12 crowd. Only one kid had already seen it and it also reminded me of how much I loved this stupid movie. He has seen most of the movies recommend here bc I make him watch older movies with me and I don't know how I missed this one. Thanks again texags

One of the hardest laughs I've ever had and heard in the theater was the Jerry Springer scene with Dr Evil and Scottie.

You're the margarine of evil.

I laughed so hard at this in the theater that I vomited into my drink. I don't really know why it caught me that way, but it is the hardest I have ever laughed in my life.

In my head I am thinking about the "becoming friends" montage in Step Brothers right now with that reference
