They got Grady (Dime's longtime tech) on board for this as well and I believe Zakk will be playing the guitars that Dime gifted to him. Also, it's not Zakk's first rodeo doing something like this (obviously with the Sabbath and Ozzy/Randy Rhoades stuff). He's a pro and was one of Dime's best friends - I think he'll do it justice.

Recent interview with zakk and he was explaining how his rig is totally different to play these Pantera songs.. no reverbs and delays, needs a noise gate with so many staccato riffs.

Dime and Zakk are very pinch harmonic heavy, so they are similar in that regard.

Zakk will nail this, no doubt.

I bet Phil is going through vocal training/coaching in prep for this. He wants to do it justice. He has sounded pretty good in recent years with his Phil/Illegals doing pantera stuff.

Rex is Rex. Charlie is perfectly capable.

Yeah, but he doesn't sound like Randy when playing the Ozzy stuff and he doesn't sound like Iommi when he plays the Sabbath stuff. I'm not saying he sounds bad but since this is being billed as Pantera it should sound as much like Dime as possible. Maybe he will do it but I'm skeptical for now. I hope he pulls it off.

And there's a legendary story about early in Eddie Van Halen's career when Ted Nugent was trying to figure out how Eddie sounded the way he did. He figured it was his guitar rig. Then he got a chance to play through it and he sounded just like himself. Just because Zakk may be using Dime's gear and using his tech to try to get that sound doesn't mean it's going to sound like Dime.

I can just hear the key change on the Casio keyboard now.

I like it compared to a lot of their stuff. Look forward to more of that. I guess it makes me sad they felt the need to mature and "Grow" beyond the first 10 years of their material but then kind of squatted on the same sound for the three decades after that which is not as enjoyable for me.

I gotcha man - no doubt it's all mostly in the fingers and Dime was a true original. I think Zakk will get close though - can't wait to find out.

It was going to be billed as "A Celebration Of Pantera" or something similar but for multiple business reasons they are using just the Pantera name.

Yeh they've all kind of said, it's paying tribute to the music and legacy. They are not going to write new music (like AIC) or do anything but play some shows to celebrate the music.

Since 72 seasons is a reference to how the first 18 years shapes a persons life, will most of the songs be in the style of the bands that influenced each member of the band?

I immediately thought of Kill 'Em All when that song started. Really liked it.

And since other people are giving their terrible opinions...

Black album has some great stuff on it. I tend to not listen to Unforgiven or Enter Sandman as much, but still like them both. My Friend of Misery is probably my favorite song on that album and Sad But True still kicks ass.

I like Death Magnetic and Hardwired. Even though Reload was my first Metallica album I ever bought with my own money, I've grown to like Load a lot more.

Already thinking about going to Arlington

I wouldn't say I disliked Hardwired, but the first half of the album is great, the second half is full of fillers except Confusion and Spit Out the Bone. The other songs are straight up garbage, I'd rather cut off my ears than see them play Manunkind or that other ****ty song with a video of a hunter and some wolves.

Death Magnetic I absolutely loved. Every song was great, it's just the awful compression of the audio what makes hard to listen. I really hope the vinyl remaster fixes the noise.

I like Metallica, and that sounds like a Metallica song, but I'm starting to move on from that kind of intense music. I don't have that much aggression in me anymore and I don't pump weights like I did 30 years ago. I hope some younger folks like it make it a big hit.

It's the dyers eve/fight fire with fire/battery tempo he can't really do anymore.

Look at fuel, double kick chorus. Roughly Same tempo as this. He does that every time still.

Ended up grabbing a two day pair in Dallas.

My wife is spending $Texas on Taylor Swift tickets, so I had some leeway on pricing. Stayed out of the pit though on account of I'm an old
