Got tickets for the LA show in August bc my 13 year old daughter wants to go!!
In my experience, there's no such thing as luck.

yeh maybe, on a lesser level. Supernatural was loaded with current, hot, pop artists. Santana alone I doubt would have had that success.YokelRidesAgain said:Carlos Santana (1968-72), 1999?62strat said:

Mine too. It's obviously not going to be some ground-breaking, seminal album, but I think all the songs have been good so far. Good background or driving music.Know Your Enemy said:
This new song is my favorite so far.
That's the common theme for me, especially with this album. Very elementary, repetitive lyrics by James.1208HawkTree said:
First, let me say Metallica has been my favorite band since I was 12. That's 35+ years, and I can always go back to something in their repertoire for whatever I am wanting to hear at that moment.
Now, my question is this…Is it me or are the lyrics getting to sound kind of "hooked on phonics" the last couple/few albums? A lot of James belting out very short (often one word), rhyming lines, that repeat throughout the song, especially in the buildup to start each one, then again and again and again. I get that he's going on 60 and doesn't have the voice/lungs/stamina he had in 1985 so he's maybe thinking about being able to play them live and keep it somewhat recognizable, but it's getting very repetitive, song after song. It makes the newer stuff less unique, in my opinion.
In the Bay Area, back before 92.3 "The Rock" KSJO changed formats and became Hot Bollywood Hits, they used to do a call-in contest where you had to guess the Metallica song based on James screaming "Yeah!".1208HawkTree said:

They say this as if they haven't played the short version in over 25 years.1208HawkTree said:
72 Seasons (song) is by far the best of the four released so far. They are performing on Kimmel every night this week, and tomorrow is supposed to be the full version of Master of Puppets.
dang that will make 3 consecutive Metallica concerts that I've attended end up on TV/DVD/movie theater.Know Your Enemy said:

Kinda wish they'd do this from a different city but it's still bad ass.
James pulls that stunt now again... sometimes he does the whole pre-chorus loljokershady said:
so awesome!!!!
at 5:38 you can see the happiness across the faces of lars and james when the crowd starts shouting back cause he didn't expect it....oh i loves this so much!!!
Not sure where you're getting that.. not a shadow of doubt that he's singing that live. every inflection, vowel, etc lines up.Macarthur said:
I did not watch last night but the Tuesday show looked to me like it was vocal tracks. Anyone else notice that is looked a bit like James wasn't singing live?
metallica turned down playing at half time for a NFL Conference championship game because they wanted them to do it pre-recorded.....Macarthur said:

Okay, so after watching last night's, James appears to be singing live. I'll have to go back and watch Tuesday as I may be seeing things...
