The Darkness in playing in Houston on Friday. Does that band register on anyone's radar?

I've seen them live twice. They put on a very fun show and sound good doing it.

Saw the Darkness on Friday. That was a great, great rock show. Justin Hawkins had the crowd of mostly 40-something males dancing like a high school drill team. (seriously, he choreographed one song for the video they were making). He plays the guitar like he was born with it. Incredible tone. I thought I could make a beer run during the song the drummer sang, but that was one of the best songs of the night. And it was a 60s-era soul song with a solo from Hawkins that melted the faces off at least 10 people in the front row!

Its been a while since I was that impressed by a live band. The Darkness rocks.

Caught Steve Hackett last night in Phoenix, fantastic show. They played a number of Steve's solo stuff, much of The Lamb Lies Down on Broadway, plus Supper's Ready (!), Firth of Fifth, and Los Endos. A great night of music, particularly if you like 70's era Genesis.

The band included Jonas Reingold on bass, formerly from the Flower Kings, and Nick D'Virgilio, formerly drummer and singer of Spock's Beard, plus some of his regular backing band (Rob Townsend, Roger King, and Nad Sylvan).

who do they have as lead these days? I know it used to be Rome but seems like there were a lot of lawsuits.

Saw Jackopierce last night at Main St. Crossing in Tomball, they are also playing Friday night (11/14) in Brenham. They sounded fantastic. Lots of mid 90's Aggies in the crowd and they played that up; stirred up good memories and just how red hot Jacko was in College Station 93-95. Filled up Wolf Pen and the Hall of Fame during that time.

Brad's kid.

About as real as sublime can get.. and no lawsuits.

sublime with rome made sense with the other two original guys, but, while eric stayed in a while, when he left, and with bud gone a decade earlier, that band really made no sense.

that's cool.

Always thought would be surreal to grow up with a famous dad who you never really knew, then follow in their footsteps.

I saw Shannon Hoon's daughter singing some Blind Mellon songs and thought the same

They're playing in Brenham this Friday. Always a fun show. My wife is a big fan and amazingly found a signed vinyl of a show they did in Nashville. Fairly certain Cary even shipped the record as there was a sticky note from him wishing her a Merry Christmas.

Saw Vampire Weekend close their tour last week in Vegas. Fountainebleau Arena was a cool smaller venue and they brought out some deep cuts for a 2.5 hour show. Great experience.

We got a couple of 2 day passes! I've never been to RR and have been looking for a show to go to. I saw Sublime w/ Rome headline with 311 a few summers ago.

i'm curious when you bought assuming GA were there two different prices? It was weird. It had a $240 price but then another 'resale' price for 140 lol. Twice I had the cheaper ticket price in my cart credit card information filled out and hit purchase and it would give me an error that it was no longer in the cart.
eventually, it worked and I got 2 of the cheaper ones.. I had to buy one at a time though, which was a pain.

Looks like I won tickets to the ACL taping for Queens Of The Stone Age on Tuesday night. It's part of their "Live From The Catacombs" tour.

Anyone been to a taping before? How early do you have to get there? The email specifically says "These passes do not guarantee admission" so it would suck to drive that far and get stiffed. It says to arrive at 6:00 but is it advisable to arrive earlier? "We will begin handing out passes at 6:00 pm on the day of the taping. Please do not arrive before 6:00 pm"

Sad. I saw him once a long time ago in downtown Houston for some festival or something. Seems like things went from bad to worse REALLY quickly.

Just returned from a business trip to APAC (India, Singapore, and Australia). Flew into to Melbourne on Nov 12. Found out at about 5 PM that afternoon that AC/DC was playing that night at the Melbourne Cricket Ground. I quickly went online and bought tickets. AC/DC in Melbourne? Hell yeah! In the end, about 80,000 people descended on the MCG to see the concert. Turn's out this this was their first show in Australia in 10 years.

What an amazing experience! The MCG is a phenomenal venue. When AC/DC took the stage, the place erupted! From the opening lick of "If You Want Blood" to the last cannon shot of "For Those About to Rock" AC/DC quite simply rocked. Maybe the loudest concert I have ever attended.

They played hit after hit after for over two hours - Thunderstruck, Shoot to Thrill, High Voltage, Highway to Hell, You Shook Me All Night Long, Dirty Deeds Done Dirt Cheap, TNT, Whole Lotta Rosie, and Jailbreak (for the first time in concert since '91 I later learned).

Brian Johnson still sounds really great! He was laughing and cackling between songs. He was clearly having a great time. And Angus Young - oh my! It was like watching a guitar god play. Full of energy and shredding like no one's business. He launched into a lengthy solo during Let There Be Rock - taking little breaks here and there just to revel in the the loud cheers. He strutted around in his classic schoolboy outfit, duckwalked across the massive stage, used his tie like a violin bow on his guitar, and rolled around on the floor during his solo.

I was blown away. I count myself as incredibly lucky to have caught that show. Oh, it was a hoot seeing a bunch of grandmother's wearing red, light up devil horns.

I think it has a lot more to do with the fact that 2024 were their first shows since 2016. So they haven't really played anywhere in 10 years.

Went to Alice Cooper's annual Christmas Pudding charity show last night, and had a blast.

Included Ed Roland from Collective Soul, Don Felder from the Eagles, and guitarist Nita Strauss. Plus the original Alice Cooper band lineup from the 70's (minus Glen Buxton of course). Each did their own set, then joined together at the end of the night for a finale.

I have only been to an ACL taping once and it was for the last time QOTSA was on the show. I remember getting there around 5:30 and easily got in and on the floor. Granted this was over 10 years ago.

I bought them last Wednesday, the 12th. I completely spaced out and purchased through StubHub. I could have saved a few hundred going through the RR website. I know this because RR website was still selling passes that next day. I paid a little over $300 each!

It looks like the value has increased 100% on stubhub anyway. I figured if we don't make it, I could sell and profit!

QOTSA Austin City Limits taping was awesome! The floor was all seating and I was in the 6th row on the right side right on the aisle. We were told to remain seated for the show but could get up in between acts for drinks/bathroom. The act breaks were very short so some people got caught outside and had to slowly filter back in. This was my sixth time seeing them and I was excited for a different experience. The email said to dress up so I wore a black suit with a funky pink/blue long sleeve shirt unbuttoned a bit, and Vans. It was an interesting mix of people who got the memo and those that didn't.

The show was three acts. Act I was just acoustic (except bass and keys) and strings. Act II was the same but with a brass section. Act III was more of a regular Queens vibe. Entire set list was fantastic. None of the hits, but rather songs that fit the vibe of the show.

Josh walked around the crowd a lot. At one point there were two empty seats one row in front of me and like 3 seats to the right , and on his way down the aisle Josh shimmied down the row and stood on those chairs for part of " Spinning in Daffodils" and it was AWESOME. One reason I love concerts (and probably why we all do) is it makes me feels like a kid again. I felt like a teenager thinking to myself "Holy Sheeet! Josh Homme is like 6 feet from me, towering over me, singing his heart out!!!"

The first act really showcased what an amazing and powerful voice Josh has! He sounds spectacular! A typical Queens show is so loud and he's bopping around and you don't get to appreciate it, but when it's just him singing in a spot light the dude absolutely commands the room.

Left my house in Houston around 1:45 and got to bed around 1:15 and was soooo worth it.

I mean, it is a country that used to be a giant island prison for British criminals, so moving seems appropriate.
