This looks pretty good. From Bill Lawrence (Ted Lasso, Scrubs). Starts next week...

Premise for those that didn't click the trailer (from the wiki page):
Quote:

A therapist dealing with severe grief begins to breach ethical barriers by telling his patients what he completely thinks, resulting in massive changes to his and their lives.
Looks like one to watch with the wife.

Like Jason Segel, and loved Scrubs. When Lawrence is on, his shows just strike the perfect balance of comedy and drama/emotion.

Well at least we know, even in the trailer, he recognizes his white privilege: so he's already on the road to healing.

Ah I get it. At first I thought it was about Harrison Ford getting shorter in his old age!

Do you ever come to this board to provide anything other than a thumbs down with a generally negative comment of zero substance?

I mean you're welcome to your opinions and all, but it's just odd.

On one hand you're right, but to say the poster brings nothing else is wrong. Early recommendations like Passengers (I kid I kid). But I like their posts.

Brett Goldstein (Roy Keny) is involved somehow, writer maybe? Anyway he and Jason were on the Today Show the other day and it was all pretty funny.

Same here. Definitely want to check it out based on Bill Lawrence's body of work.
I also had a soft spot for Cougar Town too.

Bobby Cobb was one of my favorite TV characters.

First two episodes are officially up. Gonna try and watch at least one of them later tonight.

Watched the first episode, and there is just something really off about the show. It all just kinda feels lazy. The emotions and jokes all feel forced. The conflict comes off as obviously fabricated. Outside of Segel, the acting is not great.

I love Segel and Lawrence, so I'll give it one or two more episodes, but it's definitely not great.

Same here.

Watched both episodes tonight.

Thought it started off very dour and gloomy. (I guess it makes sense given what happened in the show). It was kind of hard to watch at first. It did start to "lighten up" halfway through the 1st episode. Will definitely keep watching.

Soundtrack, as usual for a Bill Lawrence show, is pretty damn good.

Some other observations. Jason Segal looks old man. Maybe it's because I watch HIMYM as a background noise show, and I see how young he looks there, but man, he's had some rough years recently.

Christa Miller looks to have had more plastic surgery. She looks soo different from early Scrubs.

Two episodes in, and it's not great, but also not bad at all. The tone is definitely all over the place, though I'd say I'm enjoying myself for the most part. Particularly the banter between Segal, Jessica Williams, and Ford, which gets a chuckle or two out of me every time.

Speaking of, I have no idea how they got Ford to do this, seeing as he's somehow, like, third billing, if that, on what basically amounts to a glorified sitcom, but I'm actually finding him surprisingly funny, and more game than he usually is. It's never not weird seeing him in something like this, but I'm liking him in it more than I thought I would.

Overall, so far, I'd say it's flawed but… pleasant. I wish they'd commit to a tone… it'll be a little too sitcomy… then sappy… then will feel *very* Apatow/Forgetting Sarah Marshall-ish… and then every ten minutes or so there's a distinct Ted Lasso vibe… and round and round it goes. It needs to find its footing, and hopefully it will, but I'll keep watching regardless.

Enjoyed the first two episodes. Definitely captures a lot of the same emotions from Scrubs. I'm curious if the patients are going to be regulars on the show, or just have arcs of an episode or few, like Scrubs.

I am not sure what to think, but I didn't turn it off so there's that. I guess having actors I like in it is helpful.

I do hate shows where the conflict is miscommunication, so that bothers me.

I agree with TCTTS that they need to stick with a tone and maybe they'll find their groove.

Wife and I really liked the first two. Don't know why, but I could not stop laughing when the lawyer friend barged in on the therapy session or when Christa Miller kept clapping demanding to see the basketball

Segel told this story last week on the Colbert show, and they had a pic of the two of them wearing the jumpsuits together. The best part of the story didn't even make it into that snippet from twitter: Ford's suit was pink

I like the show. It's good bubble gum for the brain.

Chick from Drew Carey Show still looks good even after 4 face lifts.

Her face is very unsettling to me. It looks like she cut off a mannequin's face and placed it over hers like Dwight in The Office.

Third episode was great. Best one yet. The tone was more consistent, and it was funnier too. Now I'm really looking forward to the rest of the season.

I know some were slightly concerned with first two episodes, I have faith in Lawrence, if episode 3 is an example of what's in store, it appears my faith will be rewarded

Watched all three available episodes last night and really like it so far. As others have said, it has the trademark Bill Lawrence bittersweet vibe. Quick hits for me:
  • Reminds me of how naturally likeable Jason Segal is. Makes me realize I've missed seeing him in stuff.
  • Really shows Harrison Ford's sense of humor. I always assumed it was there but it never made it into many movies.
  • Seems like they changed Jessica Williams' Gabby a bit from the pilot. Originally, she seemed to be an airy, California flaky type. Seems like she gets further away from that with each episode.
  • Ted McGinley may be my favorite character. As Christa Miller's husband, he's in the show but not really in the show. He'll suddenly appear in a scene and do a quick drive-by (sometimes literally) and then disappear. Bill Lawrence likes to incorporate running gags in his shows so we'll see if this continues; hope so.

It literally just occoured to me that Ted McGinley is in this show.

Wow. I haven't seen him in 30 years since Married with Children and didn't know who it was.
