I think if the only thing I ever heard of Springsteen was his popular radio stuff I wouldn't care for him that much either. I'm a fanboy and I still change the station whenever Hungry Heart or Glory Days comes on.
And for me it's Rush. I understand why they are significant/popular, but just can't get into it.
I think I would split hairs here and say his early stuff is great but once he was branded as 'genius' I lost interest. Probably around the time he changed his name to the symbol.DargelSkout said:

Stevie Ray Vaughn. I recognize that he could do with stuff with a guitar that almost nobody else could/can, but I just don't like the way his music sounds.

Chris Stapleton is like that to me. I can tell he has skill. I can understand why people might like him, but I just can never get into any of his songs.

Brandi Carlile - similar to Isbell; critics' darling but I don't get her music at all.

Weirdly, I actually am a big fan of some of his songs when other artists do them, but his delivery never really did it for me. I think the "The Bands" version of "Atlantic City" is such an amazing song, his version just doesn't do it for me.
