The place I saw King's X and Eric Gailes Band was the Unicorn Ballroom. It was at 59 and Tidwell. Not a great neighborhood.

Don't know if that is the place you are thinking.

There was definitely some venue in Houston that used to be a grocery store. The name escapes me, but I think it's one of the ones mentioned here.

On a related note, the entrance to the Engine Room had the plastic curtains hanging in it like at the loading dock of a grocery store. It should have warned me about the quality of the PA at that place.

Definitely the International Ballroom - saw the Deftones there back in the day. Definitely an old grocery store. The columns and slick concrete made the mosh pit adventurous.

Told this story on here before - but we got there early because we had no idea where it was. Was going to find it and then go eat dinner and come back. Pearl Jam's bus pulled up to the back end right when we got there and we walked around. Hung out for an hour or so. Kim Thayil came back for a bit and got to speak to him too.

Concert was great and still have a pick that Jeff Ament through out to the crowd. Mike was playing a solo and I literally reached out and touched the neck headstock (that was a **** move). Greatest concert of my life.

The whole grocery store as a concert venue was going around at the time. There was a different one that I saw Tool and then the Sex Pistols later.

Sent me down a rabbit hole. International Ballroom was the other one.

Yup, that's the one. So many "cleanup on aisle 5" jokes in the mosh pit, etc.

Tool - 8 (or 9?)
One of the first was at Austin Opera House ('93?) where a guy was wearing jeans, no shirt, flip flops, catchers vest, and catchers mask.

Primus - 4

PJ - 2 (first was Austin City Coliseum opening for Soundgarden)
