Release date December 20th 2023? Am I seeing that right?

Pandemic pushed afterlife back and I was pumped when it premiered. Can't wait for this one, but how they get it right.

Ghostbusters is 1-3. I'm surprised they get a 5th shot at it.

Yeah the movie they are sequeling want even very good.
But it's Hollywood so, when all else fails go the safe route.

I would have been fine with stopping with Afterlife, but won't complain about another as long as the quality is good.

Given the end credit scene from Afterlife and the Twinkie scene from GB1, one may expect part of the plot for this movie to focus on the containment unit whether it's from a lack of space or not enough power, leak etc. A new team has to help catch the ghosts along with a solution to be made for the containment unit. I'm happy that it's starting next week, but I'm expecting it will be the last live action one for a while…animated is a different story.

Day 1 filming has commenced in the UK. Was also confirmed that there will (obviously) be filming done in NYC

totally get what you're saying and agree.

but in my opinion, and i said it on the thread for Afterlife, this movie wasn't made for Ghostbusters fanatics who saw and still adore the originals.

it's made for our kids. the nostalgia was for us. and the rest of the teen stuff was for the new generation they're trying to hook. there may be some silly parts, but they're trying to get an entire new generation of fans. younger fans. and while the kid from Stranger Things wasn't great, he was familiar to the new generation and brought a built in audience

now that's been accomplished i fully expect them to go full steam ahead in the new GB universe and it will progress with the ages of the new audience and get more mature, commiserate with the audience, just line Stranger Things and Harry Potter did.

Actually came here to post this with surprise that the movie was a thing. Knew it would be but haven't heard anything about it.

William Atherton. Interested to see what his actual role is. Hard to imagine for me to have Walter Peck in and Bill Murray not make an appearance to have a scene with him.

I scrolled up a few posts and saw that picture of James Acaster…doubtful but could he play Peck's son?

Filming for Firehouse should be wrapping up by the end of June and Bill Murray has been in London for at least the past week filming. Here taking a picture with Dan Aykroyd and comedian David Walliams. Expecting filming to shift to NYC very soon as one of the Ecto's was spotted at Metlife Stadium earlier this week.

Crossing fingers for a teaser to drop on Ghostbusters Day coming up on June 8th. Even if not, more information should be revealed including the actual movie title and if they are on track for the December 20th release date.

Ghostbusters Day came and went. Not too much revealed except for a teaser poster (first picture), a TikTok video released from McKenna Grace which shows the firehouse interior bay and exterior of the building and surrounding area around it at the studios in London. They actually wouldn't have to film at H&L #8 in NYC, as what they have recreated here is fairly large.

Second picture shows an updated cast as well as mentioning a new ghost as the antagonist...nothing related to Gozer or Vigo from the previous films.

I'm starting to get doubtful on the Dec. 20th release date with shooting ending later this month and post production looming as well as the strike happening. May work out best as next June 8th is the 40th anniversary of the original release, but I think it will be released in the spring rather than summer.

In case you are wondering, that's ice around the GB logo, not slime...in reference to the new big bad.

The 70-year-old actor is set to reprise his role as Dr. Raymond Stantz in the untitled follow-up to the 2021 film 'Ghostbusters: Afterlife' and is convinced that the project will be a hit with fans of the franchise when it is released in December.

Speaking to the Metro newspaper, Dan - who created the supernatural franchise with the late Harold Ramis - said: "We're three-quarters through filming which means it's got to be edited and mixed and the CGI has to be put into it.

"I'm excited about this one. It's got a beautiful, heartfelt story, a great threat, some scary moments and it brings back Annie Potts and Ernie Hudson, Bill Murray and myself and we've handed the torch to new people, Finn Wolfhard and Paul Rudd and Carrie Coon."

For the best. No need to rush it through post production.

After about a 3 month break of no updates, we are finally starting to hear a little bit more.

Looks like the title will be Ghostbusters: Frozen Empire and the 1st trailer should be dropping by November 10th and hopefully be attached to The Marvels.

Here's to hoping the strike is resolved and it is not delayed after March 29, 2024.

I may go to Marvels just so I could see that on the big screen!

At worst, Ghostbusters is 1-2-1. But I'll say 2-1-1.
