How long do you want to ignore this user?
Next Tuesday or the Tuesday after. It WILL be released before the end of the month. I hadn't realized that Gil Kenan said that it would be released at the end of the month (rather than the specific day) when I posted about it last week.

Is the younger Reitman involved?

Co-writer and producer. He and co-writer/director Gil Kenan let Ivan read the script before he passed. Jason is in his own words from the Empire magazine article "one of the caretakers of the franchise".

From Jason Reitman:
as development on Frozen Empire got underway, it seemed natural that - in Kenan's words - "the other director would roll up their sleeves" this time. "Afterlife was a personal thing for me - I made it for my father," says Reitman. "But Gil's my best friend, and a great director, so it fell right in line with our working relationship that he'd direct Frozen Empire.

Gil is an established director in his own right working with Bill Murray on City of Embers and also directed Monster House and Poltergeist. I don't think he'll miss a beat and I'm expecting him to make this more scarier and darker than Afterlife was (which isn't saying much).

"Yes, it's true. This man has no dick."

I can never help myself. I crack up before the line is even delivered every single time.

The last Ghostbusters was awesome, and this one looks great, too.

International trailer has a different vibe and I think it's better.

brought back more of the OG's.....

odds of Sigourney Weaver having a bigger role since Murray looks to have a bigger role this time?

odds on Rick Moranis showing up at all (him and Janine were becoming an item after GB 2 and she's back)....also it sounds like he may be getting back into acting with the Shrunk movie coming out most likely 2025?

odds of Walter Peck having more than one scene (seems like there's a lot going on here and can't have all characters having same amount of screen time)?

If Sigourney Weaver does show up, it won't be until the finale, but she was interviewed months ago saying that she wasn't in it.

I would expect William Atherton will be mostly in the beginning after the bust that we see does damage in the streets and then probably show up at the end of the movie to "congratulate" them.

Sigoirney Weaver's son from GB2 probably shows up as the bad guy or another hero.

He could have some remnants of Vigo in him, although that might be too much of a rehash.

I remember when I found out about Vigo, the master of evil.
He tried to battle my boys?
That's not legal.

The trailer looks good. I like that they're back in NY. The cast seems too big though.

I had the entire soundtrack. Not quite as good as my Rocky IV, Top Gun, or Karate Kid Soundtracks, but I still liked it.

Really looking forward to the movie. Keeping expectations in check, but the trailer was fun!

I have not read the thread but every time I see this thread title as I scroll past I immediately think it's about a new Gordon Ramsay series.

Unconfirmed run time is 1 hr 49 minutes, which without the backstory that Afterlife needed to have and ending up at 2hrs 4 min) that sounds about right.

I still think the ensemble cast will have enough screen time...probably not too much of Patton Oswalt but more of Kumail and James Acaster with Bill Murray probably showing up about halfway in the movie based on the previews.

AMC will be selling a trap shaped popcorn bucket and Cinemark has Ghostbusters/Slimer cups and popcorn buckets to sell and I believe a mini-puft and slimer plush on sale already. The official Ghostbusters store also has new items.

A month and a week left, most likely with 1 final trailer released. I'm not sure what minor missteps this movie may make, whether or not it is with story or acting performances or too large a cast, but to me, this feels like the best Ghostbusters 3 movie that we have been waiting for sans Harold Ramis. Afterlife was good from a nostalgic point and tied up the Gozer storyline, but I'm excited to see all the new equipment and the Ghostbuster universe be expanded.

Director Gil Kenan was interviewed for SFX magazine recently. Here are a few things he had to say.

On Sigourney Weaver's involvement in Frozen Empire/OGB's

Continuing, Kenan emphasised that the legacy characters of the franchise only appeared in the sequel if it made sense narratively, saying: "We already have a lot of story and characters to juggle, and it was really important for us that when characters come back they're able to have real story, real arcs.

"So, if anybody's not featured in this film, it's only because this particular story wants to make full use of the characters that we do bring out."

Not to leave fans hanging entirely, though, Kenan said: "We've got more stories to tell in the future. Nothing is off the table."

Elsewhere in the same interview, Kenan added of the OG characters: "We had a duty to make those legendary characters integral to this story," rather than just feature them in cameos.

Ghostbusters: Frozen Empire is set to star Bill Murray, Ernie Hudson and Dan Aykroyd as Venkman, Zeddemore and Stantz, Annie Potts as Janine Melnitz and William Atherton as Walter Peck.

Watched Afterlife - well most of it - over the weekend. Hope they have the OG 3 moving around more and not just standing in one scene looking old as *****

That said, Egon showing up to hold the proton pack with his grand daughter and then being able to physically hug his daughter, not to mention Bill Murray's breaking the 4th walls apology to "Ramis" is some dusty territory.

So was the original title of this movie Hell's Kitchen? Cause that would've been way cooler than Frozen Empire.

No pun intended.

If you're gonna criticize a movie for that, you need to recognize how much worse Star Wars did it as well.

You can like them all you want, just pointing out that they treated their original characters in Afterlife with a lot more reverence than Luke Skywalker ever got.

Hell, I got more emotional about Egon and his granddaughter than when Luke died. And I'm a casual Ghostbusters fan at best.

Says it all really.

So...much like "Rust City" (referring to where the muncher ghost was found) was a code name for Ghostbusters: Afterlife, "Firehouse" and "Hell's Kitchen" were two code/productions names for Frozen Empire. Kinda cool that we will get to see other parts of the firehouse in this movie.

A lot of GB fans thought the OGB's in Afterlife were kinda written in at the last minute, which, I think the cameos were fine, but the fact that they just abruptly show up felt off to me. Like did they fly in? Did they uber from the airport to get there? And maybe it was filmed, but it was cut out...there were quite a few scenes cut out that we saw in the previews or talked about by Jason Reitman that didn't make it and were not on the home release.

But to stress again, Ray and Winston should have some significant screen time in this film and Bill Murray less, but still more than what he was in GB:A. It will be different though seeing Winston take the lead as he is the one financing everything now.

I did see a different site where the run time was longer than what I had posted last week. I'm hoping that is the case.

Just over a month out.

Lots of good info posted today at ghostbustersnews.com
Including Sony dropping 4 new movie posters
Movie tie ins with Rice Krispy Treats
Icee will have a green apple and marshmallow flavor to tie into the movie.
AMC theaters will have proton pack backpacks.

The movie should be officially rated PG-13 here in a few days and the next trailer will drop soon after as we are 30 days out…and run time either 1 hr 49 min or 2hr 5 min.

I did receive a Frozen Empire poster last week with Garakka in front of the Empire State Building, but I am digging the one with the sewer dragon that came out today.

Poster Depot has the 3 that came out a few weeks ago. They don't have the ones that were released today yet, but maybe available before the movie is released. I got an Afterlife poster from them as well. Both are hanging in my classroom.
